renault premium question

Hi all,
I’ve just been given an 08 plate renault premium tractor unit and I just have a basic question,
The fridge under the bunk,am I right in thinking these operate even whilst the truck is stopped, overnight etc, basically do they need ignition power to continue running through the night?
Thanks in advance
Lee

I doubt it, mine hasn’t got one though. There’s usually an on/off switch somewhere.

Yeah there’s a dial for setting the temperature which also switched it off, heard before they ran constantly if not turned off though.

They do, but I never turn mine off over the weekend (it’s a Magnum but almost certainly the same fridge) and I never have any trouble with flat batteries. I believe the fridge shuts down if the voltage drops below a certain level.

I’m sure they do run all the time I seem to remember the temp setting and on off switch being accessible when you pull the fridge out or lift the bunk. But it’s been a few years since I drove one, so memory might be playing tricks.

The on/off control is in the top right-hand side of the fridge.

Or, if you double-lock a Renault using the remote control then all of the electrical systems shut down (the tachograph is powered by an internal battery)

However, you don’t need to turn the fridge off, I left the yard at 14:00 on Friday and I won’t be back until 10:00 on Monday and I have left the fridge running, as I do every weekend.

that’s different to the one in my Premium !

the switch is on the outside at the back right corner ( if you’re looking backwards when you lift the bunk up ), you’re right about the double locking though.

Driven various premiums for over 3 years all with fridges running constantly. Never a problem with the batteries and as pointed out dial control under the bunk - mines set about 3/4 to the right so it doesn’t just turn into a lump of ice.

Just as a footnote, my fridge is turned up about 3/4 of the way too, I had a 68 hour rest period this weekend and left the fridge on all over the weekend, and this morning the voltmeter was showing 23.9v. I believe the fridge shuts off if voltage drops below 23.6v, which is more than enough to start the thing.

Thanks for the replies,
Mines also a little different to the one pictures there, the control knob is also on the back right under the bunk and accessed by lifting the bunk. First day out in the renault today and I’ve had it set about 3/4 and its been fine, currently laid on the bunk, had the keys out of the ignition for a couple of hours and every so often I hear the fridge power up for a minute or 2 so I guess my original question has been answered
Let’s just hope the bloody thing starts in the morning :stuck_out_tongue:
