Hi advice needed please. Can you tell me what is needed to fit a microwaze oven in a Renault Premium please. I notice there is a power socket next to the shelf in the roof above passenger side . Has anybody fitted one to their truck .? Do I need an inverter or can I buy a adapter to fit in the socket thats already there. Forgive m for being a bit vague but I have only had a quick look in a premium today and wasnt sure what the plug is thats fitted if this makes sense. Thankyou,
Hi
dont do what i done, bought a microwave proper truck 24v one for my renault premium thinking it was going to fit passanger side above windscreen area, probably same place your thinking of putting yours. THEY DONT FIT. you have to buy a certain size microwave to fit there or cut half the roof lining out you cant just plug it into the cig lighter you need bigger wires than that.

Hi John yes I was going to buy a normal houseold microwave n put up on the shelf above pass side windscreen but wasnt sure what plug adaptor etc I would need for the renault one that is already there. Thanks anyway .
Smallest mirowave that would be any good would have to be at least 800 watt.
So 800/24 volt requires at least 32 amp draw.Probably better parking near a lamp post and plugging yourself into the National Grid.
Thats if you want the donkey to have the power to crank in the morning!
I don’t know much about electrics, but I wouldn’t plug a microwave into the socket on the shelf. The wires leading to the plug are very thin. Don’t think they could cope with the power reqired to make your microwave work.
As a rough rule of thumb, a 240v microwave will need to be wired using wire of at least the same thickness as the appliance is fitted with all the way back to the batteries, and you’ll need an inverter rated at double the micr.owave’s stated wattage
About £599.
Thanks for the replies everyobody.I was driving for someone who had them fitted in Scania topliner so thought it could be done.
