hi have got a 2007 renault premium 6x2 unit showing an abs fault, diagnostic shows it is related to the front near side wheel, have checked exciter ring which looks fine, suspect it is the wheel sensor or the wiring going to it but cant find where the wire splits, any ideas would be most gratefull.
Jack it up and check for play in the bearing.
have already checked the wheel bearing which is fine
You just really need to get someone with a handheld abs tester to plug in and check the signal and sensor gap from the wheel is as it should be and work back from there, it’ll just save so much time really.
Heavily worn pads are an occasional cause of random ABS faults, also.
I know they look ok but it still might be worth giving the teeth a good wire brush and knocking the sensor closer.
Edit is it a dynamic fault, ie whilst driving, or is it coming as soon as you turn the ignition on? If as soon as ignition turned on will be much more likely bad sensor or wire.
thanks for the info, fault comes on when ignition is turned on, have cleaned the ring as suggested, am now going to replace sensor which hopefully will come with wire.
have replaced wheel sensor and wire all fine now no faults thanks for the advice
you could have checked the continuity of the wire for the sensor. u could have needlessly bought a sensor and just had a wiring problem, usually a break!.
