I have been asked to look at bringing about 70m3 of household furniture and belongings back from Panicale near Perugia in Italy to Devizes in Wiltshire at the end of June for a relative. Since this is not really my area of expertise, can anyone suggest a good reputable (and cost-effective!!) operator to do this for my relative.
talk to this guy he does removals and has done Italy before
DEANB send him a e mail and pm he will do a good job say brit pete
told you about his firm.
I work for a removal company in the New Forest. The problem you will have is 70 cubic metres is slightly bigger than a rigid will hold so you will either have to pay for 2 vehicles or use a company with a draw-bar or artic. I would have thought you would be looking at about 7-9K plus VAT dependant on how far they had to travel from in order to collect the backload.
With regard as to who to recommend, I could get a price for you from us, I work for Peter Cooper removals, or alternatively there is Armishaws of Salisbury, Brittania Leatherbarrows in Bournemouth, White and Company. Make sure you use a BAR (British Association of Removers) member. Alternatively Barcelona Karl on here works for Coles who are London based and I also think Jimti on here is in removals but I don’t know who he is on for. I know we have nothing to get to Italy so our price would be more expensive.
Can’t think of anything else but if you have any questions, let us know, I am sure there is someone on here who can answer it!!

wouldn’t have a clue, but if they really get 7k perugia to devizes even if tipping and loading in perugia then that’s fabulous - for an outfit that costs maybe £150k, written down over 15+ years, a driver and a couple of dole monkeys and a bit of extra goods in transit insurance, they’re laughing tin hats

Think thats a bit of a simplistic view really, you will never get rich in removals!! The chances of tipping in Perugia are pretty slim, normally in removals we have to travel a fair distance to backload, thats if one can be arranged. Then to pack and load 70c/m you are looking at about two and a half days, two and a bit days back, good day to unload, ferry, fuel, tolls etc, wages for 2 guys at least, nights away for 2 guys so to get the job done in a week would be pushing it so somewhere in the trip would be a weekend for pay with 2 guys, so the costs soon add up. Plus, would you want to send a 15 year old wagon down to Italy?
Hi all, I ve just had a quote from a large national removal company for moving the 70cu m of household goods from Panicale to Devizes at £2150 plus VAT!!.
I guess some companies are desperate for work, or they are quoting based on getting their wag n drag back to the uk!!

That is a very good rate, I am guessing that they will not be packing the job and only picking it up and delivering it to Devizes as a blanket wrapped load.
Does that price include insurance? it is up to the customer to insure the load as removals isn’t covered by goods in transit insurance.
the only removals company I know that do regular Italy is Pickfords, they have a regular run to Naples so going via Perugia on the way home wouldn’t be far out of their way.

Snap their hand off. I would suggest that Jimti is right and that is a blanket wrap, no pack quote, but even so its a bloody good price for you. Some people are desperate for work at the moment and so the customers are getting that sort of rate.
Heed what Jimti says about insurance though. Make sure the load is covered otherwise there could be a few issues on delivery. Good luck with the move
Thank you all for your responses, I have confirmed with the removals company - this price is “load only - no packing involved, with collection of the furniture/belongings from a storage room outside the walls, (since the house in Panicale is within the medieval walls and no truck would get in there!!) , and delivery back to a storage centre at Devizes”. The price does include insurance cover though.
I have told my aunt to snap their hands off, and I wish her best of luck!!
