Remember limeyphil?

He was more of a fence than a villIan as in the armed robber typeand it was His envolvement in a vat scam involving buying and selling gold through jersey that got him ■■■■■■■ with the brink mat firm.as nmm said they were expecting to find cash not gold and as old school armed robbers had no idea how to turn it in to cash.
Another name involved in that escapade often mentionEd on the old time forum was George Francis who had a haulage firm in the old Surrey docks area who was a major face who met a sticky end which was rumoured to be from a falling out about some of the loot.
There’s been loads written about brinks mat linking money to it going to loads of other criminal enterprises and many rumours of certain straight business ventures been funded by money from it.

As for Phil I don’t recon he was no villIan just got in above his head motivated by greed and thoughts of some kind of gangster lifestyle.
As others have said once your trapped in to it you cant just hand your notice in.
I do wonder if whoever he was doing it for knew of the ■■■■ episode as it would surely flash up alarm bells he was ripe for a stop.
The text messages also scream out this idiot seems a poor choice to use.

The thing that I find wrong in all of this is that Phil has just got 16yrs up the ribs for bringing in a bit of powder, yes it’s illegal, but cocaine isn’t addictive, apparently it’s quite good and you may want to hoover up some more, but it’s not something you need to avoid a painful withdrawal like Heroin. People who like a sniff usually have enough money to buy it, yes I’m sure a few kids are having pot noodle for dinner so mum or dad can have a bit of bugle on a Friday night, but it’s not a scumbag drug as such.

16yrs is a lot of bird for that, especially when you have pedophiles getting a lot less time for their heinous crimes, some murder cases get less than 16yrs too, it’s a bit of a messed up system when you think how many more serious crimes have sentencing guidelines less than the 16yrs that Phil has got for bringing in a substance that people want to buy so they tell their mates they’re the best thing since sliced bread until the sun comes up the next morning.

Ain’t it got links to the Brinks Mart job? I’m sure I’ve read that some of the money that was laundered from that job was used to buy pills to sell in the clubs around Essex, the exact same pills that killed Leah Betts.

Leah Betts wasn’t killed by pills despite what the media and her parents would have you believe. Her official cause of death was Hyponatremia (water intoxication) caused by excessive water consumption. Apparently she drank 9 litres in 90 minutes as she’d misinterpreted advice that you need to drink water to stay safe.

This inconvenient truth doesn’t suit the medias agenda though so it rarely gets reported as such.

Yes I know it was too much water. That’s the cause of most deaths off pills. I used to do them myself in the early 2000s regular at dance festivals and nightclubs such as Gatecrasher and Godskitchen and could do about 6-8 in one night but I’d just have probably one bottle of water per 1-2 hour and keep sipping it not guzzling it down.

An old pal of mine was on the booze run from Belgium to East London, was on very good money and was always asking me to get in on it.

I was tempted then I found out that he got pulled in by the Customs and ended up in Maidstone nick for 6 months followed by another 6 months at some Milton Keynes facility.Glad I didn’t take up his offer, after all.

I hear that the Customs & Excise crew are a law unto themselves, don’t know if it’s true or not though.

Yes, they are for example the police need to obtain a search warrant before they can enter your house but the customs do not.

Spot on that sentente is way over the top compared to what is given out for other crimes.
It looks good to the daily mail all drugs are equally bad brigade though.

It was most likely the crap she used to buy out of the snooker hall in Deptford that was cut with God knows what done the damage.
For every one of here there’s loads that will indulge ocasionaly with no problems same as some people can have a few pints and not become a raging alcoholic others can’t have a sherry trifle without needing to finish off to two bottles of brandy .
However the government day that’s okay as they charge tax on it.

I agree that the sentence is unduly harsh but…

newmercman:
but cocaine isn’t addictive

…that is nonsense. Cocaine is highly addictive and withdrawal from an addiction is no joke either.

It’s also extremely easy to turn normal cocaine into crack which is even more addictive and may well meet your definition of a “scumbag drug”

Yeah me to. We’ve probably met at some point and don’t even know it. I did Crasher and Kitchen every week for most of 1999 then Sundissential and Insomz in 2000.

I think a lot deaths are linked to overheating caused by a lack of water. Then you have those who go too far the other way, like Leah. And you got people with underlying health issues. Seeing as pills are made in batches of hundreds of thousands a dodgy killer batch would have pretty far reaching consequences.

Thats an incredibly naive post NMM. Having had the “pleasure” of dealing with people on cocaine they are often angry, hostile and unpredictable. Not a good combination. Add alcohol into the mix and I can tell you right now its a class A drug with a heavy sentence for a reason.

So someones kids go without a proper meal so the parents can spend the money on drugs? And thats NOT a scumbag drug?
You’ll need to explain that logic to me

There is probably kids going without a proper dinner so mum and dad can buy ■■■■ and booze too.
There’s probably kids going without stuff as dad spends spare cash on buying Kelsa bars and wheel trims for his bosses truck.
That just makes you a ■■■■ parent as you should put your kids needs first.

Snowman, naive, well of course i am, obviously I have no personal experience of inhaling class A substances, as that is illegal, but I was lead to believe that a line of Charlie makes you feel euphoric and heightens your senses. I imagine that after a sniff you feel pretty good and can become the life and soul of the party.

Really, well I have no personal experience, so I’m clutching at straws here and no, they’re not cut down McDs straws! Anyway I thought that you could just stop having a sniff when you had enough, let’s say for example you’re laying in bed after a John Belushi impression and have been trying to sleep for hours and just cannot drop off as your mind is racing and you decide enough is enough.

I assumed that disco disprins were the same, you took them because they made you feel good and once you got tired of the life, you could just stop and not suffer any withdrawal symptoms.

Smoking weed is the same too isn’t it? You can just pack it up when you want, there are no physical withdrawal symptoms, you may want to fire up a big fat spliff, but you don’t need to.

Like I said to snowman though, I have no personal experience of any illegal substances and I don’t know anybody that has, so it’s pure speculation on my part.

Another bloody failed delivery phil

Cocaine (as well as weed) can affect different people in different ways. Some can take it or leave it, and others can’t, just like alcohol.
A few of us had to have an intervention for a mate that got involved in cocaine and we could see it was starting to destroy him, as well as burning though an inheritance! :open_mouth: So we arranged with him to go and see the Priory, but when we saw the cost we/he decided it was cheaper for him to see friends in Australia for a month where he had no contacts for the stuff. Thankfully he’s been been teetotal (clean) ever since!

And it doesn’t make you the life and soul of the party, it makes you talk bollox for hours! :imp:

This may not win me parent of the year but the wife and I got our 16 year old daughter to get us some weed, got me younger lad to roll us a spliff and we gave it a go whilst our eldest lad was on the coke.

Funny as ■■■■ it was, we both got the giggles at anything, followed by the munchies with some hysterical romance to end the evening. One thing I noticed was how slow time seemed to pass. I went in the crapper to brush me tooth and thought I’d been in there for hours.
The kids went hungry that week.

Oh and since then our kids won’t touch drugs as I will nick em for me and the wife.

Apart from half an ‘E’ now and again I’m quite clean.
