Remember last year A1 Newark

All them cones and contraflow and a nightmare most days and night well its all laid out again from tonight so good luck folks…its there for 5 weeks apparebtly.

that willdo nicely m8  more overtime

A1:

Concrete road surface - at least 3 decades with only minor occassional repairs. Not a rut in sight

Replaced by tarmac - resurfaced every 12 months and tramlines after 6 weeks.

Is it 24hr ops or just nightime working?

I believe the part of the concrete section of A1 from Balderton to A46 was once an experimental section of road during the very early seventies that actually had heating running through it to see if it was an option for use in frosty weather. Does anyone know for sure?

noticed the signs on monday on the way to john smiths at newark, thought then oh my god not again.

just heard on the news this morning that the proposed dual carriageway A46 between Farndon and Widmerpool has been shelved. Apparently it has now been decided by DfT that this route is no longer of National importance. Think it’s more likely that they’re making too much money off the specs cameras that were installed along it recently.
Guess that 14 deaths in 5 years is important when viewed from a comfy office in Whitehall.
Sorry…rant over :imp:
