Relocating to spain

I’m seriously thinking of moving to spain.
My eldest brother has a place near Alacanti. It was supposed to be for holidays but it’s looking more likely to become his permanent abode.
My other brother is packing as i’m typing, They both have no kids to look after unlike me. So i need to think more seriously about the move than they do.
I think the climate will be much better for my youngest sons health.

Does anyone know of any spanish companies that will employ an engish driver?
What are the wages like in spain?
And any other tips. Thanks

The climate here is good for everyones health - and is brilliant for kids as they can be outdoors so much even in winter.

As for working for the Spanish, things arent too good at the moment. We have the highest inflation rate in the EU and I think our unemployment rate is about to become the largest too.

Aside from the above, I would seriously reccomend learning some Spanish - you dont need to be fluent, yet a good basic understanding really helps at work and in finding a job.

Jobs here dont tend to be advertised, and many firms dont have yards as such because the drivers take the trucks home - jobs are generally found through who you know. You can of course go door knocking at the bigger firms - this is where you will need at least some Spanish.

Many blokes here commute into northern Europe - working 5 or 6 weeks away then having a week or two at home.

Drivers wages vary, but on international you could reasonably expect about 1000 in the bank every month guaranteed - plus about 12 - 15 cents per Km. That gives around about 2400 per month take home. Some firms pay 1000 plus a percentage of the load - usually works out about the same.

Dont buy a property here yet, the market has died and prices may well tumble in the next year or so. Renting a 100 sqm apartment fully furnished 3 bed, 2 bath, kitchen, living room, terrace, community pool, parking space will cost about 750 - 850 per month. Gas, electric and water will cost about 80 a month (if you dont use the aircon - if you do, get a mortgage!).

Food prices here are still cheaper than most of the rest of Europe, especially if you use the smaller local shops selling local produce. If you like fish (I do) half a kilo of fresh anchovies will cost you about 90 cents depending on the day. Fresh sardines are a similar price.

hi mate, give it a lot of thought, theres a lot of people returning to uk becuase they cant find work.the schools are catering for english kids now so thats no problem.but as hombre said you got to be able to speak the lingo to even stand a chance of getting a job with the spanish.
