Hi this is for my mate (yes i do have one :stuck_out_tongue: :laughing: )

a truck he drives is having a private plate on it

what would he as there driver do with regard the digi unit reg number

how long does the company have to change it and what would be the best course of action for the driver to do

with regard any notes on tacho

i have said to him ask the company for a letter to say that the truck is in for recalibration at the garage so if stopped and the wrong reg was noticed would that be the best for him

any thing else he should do

the truck is required to have a ‘Periodic Inspection’, during which the registration number stored in the tacho will be changed and all the calibration settings checked. It should be done as soon as possible after the issue of the new registration number and definitely within 7 days.

As the tacho is not fitted fully in compliance with Annex 1B of (EEC)3821/85 then the driver could be looking at a Fixed Penalty Notice of £ 200. :open_mouth:

Would suggest an early visit to a tacho calibration centre :slight_smile:
