Awful start to the day, why can’t the office pick up the phone and book things in.
Anyone else suffer from the incompetent office ■■

Yes, but its not usually our office to blame. Its normally the senders fault. They send a pallet to be delivered on a next day service. We know it needs booked in but we’ve got to attempt delivery as its what the customer asked for. We charge a re-delivery fee if it gets knocked back first time around anyway, so it doesn’t bother our mob.

And as a driver, your problem begins where?

On the contrary, I think that I actually gain from our incompetent office, if they got their act together I’d probably only do 8 hours a day!
So… you have to drive there and have to drive back, how does not being booked in and the goods refused affect your day? you’ve done exactly what you would have done had you got tipped. If anything it’s saved you sitting around twiddling your thumbs on a bay for a few hours.

+1, if they were efficient an awful lot of us would be out of work. Lol.
Same here if they planned runs properly be less hours done lol.
Last week started in Wolverhampton went to Blackpool then Worcester drove past the depot on the way to Worcester when I got back they said “where you been?” Lol got rather a rude answer thats what you get when the planner doesnt drive a car lol bless em
I remember once doing 3 weeks of driving from Bridlington to Queensferry with trailers of cakes, turning round and going home. I used to start at 6pm which was the time the load was booked in to Iceland and for some reason traffic religiously booked it down for me to do. It was a 3hr drive away so I’d take it there, get to the gate, they’d sign it as refused, I’d ring up the traffic office and they’d send me back to Bridlington. I’d get back and go home but still got paid 12hrs because I was on guaranteed hours.
Absolute utter madness.
oh yes this happens far too often well maybe not the book in thing but the incompitance of the office, eg - once when i was in norbord just outside inverness when they called and asked me to collect from balmoral offshore in aberdeen so i said yeah not a problem i’ve been in before get me a reference/job number they dont release goods without one. they said its ok they know im coming and the stuff is sitting waiting. so 2 hrs later and i arrive tell the guy what i’m in for and guess what, yip no reference no goods so now i feel like a ■■■ because he says you’ve been here before u know u need a reference.
other times when we are down south and i know a few hours in advance that im gonba be at least an hour late or so we call the office and ask them to call ahead they say ok but when we get there its all closed and no one around so waste another hour ar two waiting on someone having to come out. when theydo come out i ask did no one call to let u know they say no. how hard is it to pick up a bloody phone
