Maybe so, that might be the attitude you work to but not me. I might be out of touch with the rest of the haulage industry. I’ve been a driver since 1990 and never been short of work. Worked for DHL, Morrisons Asda and various contractors. Currently working for Warburtons on agency. They don’t tell me what to do they ask me.
Usually the case when transport isn’t their main business and they don’t run it to make a profit from it - they tend to have a HR department which is used to dealing with people doing 8-5 Mon-Fri shifts.
When haulage is your businesses sole income, if the wheels ain’t turning then you’re not earning and for those companies if you have the time on your card, you’re expected to do it.

I’m not some sort of lap dog or servant at any one’s beck and call.
There are others I’ve worked for but would rather not name them on a public forum but I don’t have any complaints about the firms I’ve worked for.
Happy to discuss.
If you just trunk for a firm were there primary roll is to sell things than transport thats ok but im a tramper with one wagon on the fleet so I keep the wheels turning if I have time left I get down the road as far as possible no point wasting time when money can be made and I get long weekends when my hours are up.
