Can you, or can you not, take a reduced break while at base.■■?
Of course you can. There is no restriction on where you can take a reduced weekly, or daily rest period. The only time you couldn’t do a reduced weekly rest period is if you had also taken a reduced weekly rest period for the previous week.
This is a popular misconception which is caused by, I believe, the fact previous to April 2007 you could only reduce to 24 hours away from base and 36 hours at base. They simplified it by making the reduced rest a minimum of 24 hours regardless of location but some drivers still mix the new and old rules and wrongly assume you can only take a reduction away from base.

I had a tacho test at the agency. Two questions were on reduced weekly rest and what the minimum times were away and at home. I said it was 24hrs and 24hrs. The woman said it was 36 at base. I had to argue the point and her colleague said that it was 24. Talk about out of date? She said it was embarrassing, no ■■■■!!!
