between weekly rest periods</pedantic mode>
You could take 3 reduced and 3 split if you wanted, even 6 split if thats what your work dictates.

ROG,
RTFQ, it clearly says “in one week,” so it’s a yes/no answer.

He could also take 6 reduced in one week if his work pattern dictates.

Exactly.
In one week !!
How can it be said it is legal when it is not know what has been done previous to the start of that week?

Because everyone knows what he meant by his question, I’ll explain it to you. He wanted to know if he still has all 3 reduced available when using a split rest. Answer, yes.
I knew that coffee
What I was being pedantic about was the ‘week’ bit

ROG,
IMHO, this is as irrelevant as your last point and serves no purpose, but let’s play this out…
Can a driver take three reduced rest periods “in one week?” (That’s a yes/no question.)
Can a driver take a split daily rest “in one week?” (That’s also a yes/no question.)
Can a driver take three reduced rests and a split daily rest “in one week?” (That’s another yes/no question.)
Remembering the definitions of “rest” and “week,” (which also apply in Leicester
) what difference would what the driver did in any other “week” make to the answering of the OP’s question?
I agree that they CAN but whether it is legal or not is another issue

No it’s not. As asked, the only answer to that question is yes it’s legal.

I don’t think it’s fair to blame pre-mod for ROG being a bit dense, I’m sure there are other underlying issues.
