Hi hope someone can help me out there i’v got a couple of questions about working hours.
First can a reduced daily rest be taken at home and if so is up to the driver or can the driver
be made to by there employer and secondly can you take two or even your three reduced dailey rests in a row. The company I work for are pushing a bit at mo and I just want to know where I stand. Thanks to anyone who can help and if there a public source for this information that would be usefull to.

You’ve been listening to too many stories from other drivers.
Yes you can take a reduced break at home, it has never been the case you can’t. This is one of the big Driver’s Myths which do the rounds.
If you have one available to you there is nothing illegal in the employer scheduling the work to take advantage of that and there is no right for you to refuse under the EU Driver’s Hours Rules. You probably could under H&S by claiming you would be too tired but do this too many times and you are likely to find yourself out of a job for being unfit for the role. Remember if you go down this route it can back-fire on you when getting back to the yard will put you a few minutes over 13 hours from the start of the shift because that would automatically put you on a reduced rest and if you are refusing to do reduced rests while at home do you really want to park up for a night out that close to home?
The regulations simply state that three times between weekly rest periods you can reduce the daily rest from a minimum of 11 hours to a minimum of 9, that’s all it says and there are no restrictions placed on the number of consecutive days you can do this on. This is another of the big Driver’s Myths.
Hope that helps but I’m guessing none of those answers are what you wanted to hear.
Well, apart from this bit maybe.

Driver’s Hours Rules
VOSA’s Guide to the rules.
They tell you everything you need to know about rest periods and so forth.

I was breaking any rules regardless if I like the answer
or not lol. I’m more in the frame of mind when there gone there gone. Your right about myths though some of stuff drivers told me is ridiculas thanks again .
