Recycled Government Policy

Philip Hammond blames the artic drivers for jack knifing in bad weather conditions. So do I, artics do not jack knife on their own, but the thing I found hidden in a blog about FIFA is already tried and tested.

As Philip indicates in his interview, the solution is lane rental, and as soon as Whitehall can pull its finger out we will have a system whereby the 109 bodies that can dig up the road – often without so much as a by your leave – will have a strong financial incentive (a) to concert their activities and (b) to get the job done fast and with minimum disruption.

Hang on, we have heard all this before. Our own glorious leader of this forum worked for a company who were involved in road repairs, hmm, who was that? I know LANE RENTALS.

So in that case it must be that all of those artics that jacknife when we get a bit of cold weather are driven by nutters who suddenly get an attack of brain fade every time it gets cold. But maybe Hammond and his supporters could explain why the same does’nt apply to A frame drawbar outfits and why the yanks have branded single drive axle tractor units as jacknifers for years. :unamused:

That’s a co incidence because I was thinking of just saying that about Hammond’s bs but then I thought I’d make a reasoned argument in defence of those drivers who’ve been branded guilty without trial instead. :unamused:

Crazyfool, it’s getting old now mate, get over it, one liners about 6x4s can still be funny in the right places, but your incessant ranting is becoming rather tedious, please go back to the two strokes and start winding Bewick up again?

Mr Nut is right, almost, artics do not jacknife on their own, except when the road is sheet ice and it’s windy, but in 99% of cases the artic will have been driven at an inappropriate speed for the conditions :unamused:

How the government thinks they can stop this from happening I do not know, but you can bet your bollox to a barn dance that they’ll come up with a half baked solution, even though the Hope anti jacknife lock has been around for years, really that should be standard equipment on anything that bends in the middle :bulb:

Well the training could become part of the CPC. But then that would cost transport companies some money so I dout that would ever be happen :unamused:
