Recently passed Cat C .Spent a few quid now Im gonna make my money back. Best way seems to be agency using LTD,anybody had any experience with LTD. For example how do you go on with holiday pay and Iv heard some horror stories of people falling foul of tax laws,accountants legging it etc…
Also I have Hiab but it doesn’t seem to pay any extra or am I missing something.
I would go as PAYE on the beginning. If you’re fancy driving and you do a lot of jobs then maybe Ltd. I would avoid umbrella companies at any price.

Well done on passing.
If you are Ltd, then you sort out your own holidays, your own sick pay and your own pension. If there is no work, you don’t get paid. Go PAYE.
More experienced drives with HIAB can make more money, but likely need a bit under your belt. If working for builders merchants, then don’t expect anymore.
At first place i worked there was one HIAB driver who did a lot of nights out and he was paid extra, but had a lot of experience on class 2 and hiab before he got there.
Ltd has a lot of potential pitfalls on tax and remember the amount you’re paid needs NI, income tax, SSP, pension, holiday pay taking off and be very careful about what you claim as expenses. Accountants dont have to pay the HMRC £1000s claim if they think you got it wrong…you do.
PAYE works better although it has more complications if working for multiple agencies. Not too sure how that works.
