OK, we all drive on a motorway sometime during our life.
And if you have recently done Initial/Driver CPC you might have looked at the Highway Code?
So why when the matrix signs on the M25 today have a read X on the lane do drivers still drive in that lane!
The signs first said move lane with an arrow & stated lanes where blocked.
Then the red X was shown for at least 2 signs before the blockage.
And yes it was car drivers as well as professional lorry drivers doing it!
Whilst the rest of us had obeyed the matrix signs and got out of the lane you wonder why we get angry when you cut us up just before the accident to get in the right lane. If as professional drivers we want respect lets obey the traffic signs!
Not everyone did, but quiet a few just wanted to be in front of others by a few 100 meters!

I would fully support enforcement cameras for people carrying on past a red X, however some of blame must lay with the HA muppets who set them 10 miles before whatever the “incident” is when there is simply no need and thus leads to the above happening out of pure frustration.
Surrey Police tweeted that they issued a fixed penalty to a HGV driver a couple of nights ago for driving in a lane displaying a red X.
It’s not just cars at it.

You see, and here lies the problem. Those HA muppets. So who’s the muppet driver who doesn’t know that the huge blue signs EVERY 500 metres that say M25 A 123.4 means and says “oive just seen a tyre in lane fwee somewhere between Dartford And Heathrow” rather than read the sign thus set the signs where they are needed. Mmmmmmm, a possibility at all and maybe a little understanding that we are attempting to prevent you potentially being killed? Nah, let’s throw some crap at the wombles.
You carry on through what is essentially a red traffic light, get points, Lose your licence and be on the dole because you didn’t think the signs were set for anything real. I did a lane 1 for a truck tyre change today. You know how many professional drivers chose to leave it till the last minute at 56 to pull out nearly hitting our kit and car? Disgraceful, and to call themselves “professionals”.
Mentioning no names but I’d like to award a “Goldstar” to a driver pulling a container on the M6 this morning. Went past the matrix sign for “Hard Shoulder for Junction 9 only” and then cut me up by driving on the chevrons.
Nice one, you only had about 2miles to react driver…

Wonder if it was the guy on here who posted in this forum this last week that he continued driving in a red X marked lane til he saw the cones.

Out of interest Jase, what is the reason you attended , was it to help with the tyre change or because its dangerous ?
On managed motorways if the hard shoulder is open when an incident occurs, a lane usually lane 1 or 4, will display red X from the previous junction for an emergency access lane, so all those drivers who think i will pass everyone and cut in at last minute end of in a queue blocking the lane that has been closed to allow emergency services attend a scene quickly. These drivers will be the same drivers moaning that motorways are not cleared quick enough. They may be cleared quicker if all the services could get to the scene.

We’re not allowed to help Mike, only to make it safer. I don’t need to explain (although I will) despite 50’s and 2 lane closure signs, many still chose to drive right up to me before moving out with the theory that they will move over when they see something, which as was proven at least twice yesterday that that attitude is wrong as 2 trucks stopped in lane 1 having been unable to move over and slowed the traffic to a crawl to pull away from stationary.
Imagine the tyre fitting fitting 2 tyres in the offside without a lane closure based on the above, people don’t move over even when we’re there giving them warning.

Have you got any system in place where they can be reported?
Why would they be reported,it states they were unable too move over,so stopped and then moved off, what’s wrong with what they did,I often want to move out for tyre repairs ,breakdowns but often I can’t as nobody will allow me too,so I ease up and try and go as steady as possible passed the lads working ,should I be reported for that .
Sadly the police won’t be interested in that, (too busy at Krispy Kreme, ooohhh) it isn’t a legal order to move over when you see a lane 1 closure unless with a red X above it. Of course as has been said so many times before, people tend to ignore the signs until they see anything but that Is often too late.
Try and think about it like this, signs are set according to a particular log with operator ID recorded and reason for setting the sign noted too. They are not set for fun. If we pass on one side and see a tyre in lane 3 on the other, they can and will set a lane specific closure. If it gets hit and moved in the mean time, until we go back round, that lane closure sign stays on but that could be 20 minutes depending on junction length etc. just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. I’ve spotted a car stopped in a wide central res, went round and he was gone but by then the cops had had numerous calls and we set 50’s too. To you passing after he’d left, what were the signs for? You just don’t know.

That’s because your thick ■■■■ colleagues sat in their ivory tower are too busy sleeping to see that an incident that happened 12 hours ago has long since been cleared and there is in fact absolutely nothing to slow down nor adjust lane for. Get your own house in order before criticising the road users you [zb].
