Opinions have varied…so let’s draw a line and see who would do it…
I would never, ever take a roundabout the wrong way, given any…and I do mean “any” circumstances, unless (and I’m pre-guessing the idiots who will point this out on here) directed by traffic police or it was a diversion. You know what I mean…just to gain an advantage or to speed up or whatever.
I did similar by accident and bad planning in the dark in France once. I overtook a truck in a van, on a straight empty road just at the point a keep right bollard appeared. Luckily the road was long and empty. Lesson learnt there!!!
Mucked it up big time, felt weird, what makes it worse is I have driven a fair amount abroad so had no excuse for getting it wrong really
I’ve also only done it because roadworks. The road I wanted to go down was closed except for access. My delivery point was included in ‘access’. But the way they had set out the cones, it meant me having to go round the rdbt the wrong way. Felt strange.
I had to swerve out of the way of some idiot driving a Reed Boardall truck early one morning through the roadworks on the A30 near St.Ives. I was already on the two lane roundabout when he approached the roundabout in front of me, when it was a case of ‘Where the hell is he going?’ …as he decided to turn right heading straight for me instead of left. Must have been about 3 years ago now, I couldn’t believe it, he wasn’t exactly driving at a leisurely pace either.
I was driving the car and really had to swerve out of his way, had the mrs and kids with me, scared the S**T out of us !!!
Nope would never do it (unless police escorted or roadworks dictated it) and would slam on the brakes and bollock myself for a sheer lack of talent.
All it takes is for Mr & Mrs Average +2.4 children on their way to the airport/holiday to be turning left at the roundabout looking right and then be wiped out by some nutter who should know better coming across on the wrong side.
Oh for what its worth Mr Dash Cam did himself no credit in that drama but think thats been covered…
Yep, do it about once a month, brent cross shopping centre the only way to get into the car wash is to go round the roundabout the wrong way, love confusing the other drivers!!
I would in my car just to see what it’s like , then I wouldn’t do it again lol , people will probs slate me but I wouldn’t do it in rush hour in a 44t lol , when I got my first car I did all kinds of stupid stuff to see what all the fuss is about and never done it again , I think it makes you a better driver … Only being honest I’m not advising anyone to do it
