It would be fair to say that RDCs are directly responsible for the fact that I am now an IT pro and no longer a wagon driver. A job I loved.
interbrew preston what waste? dhl got the job now so they are spitting there dummies out. was there last night 3 hours waiting to tip?
Highlander:
Had the great misfortune to go to Morrisons produce RDC at Rushden on Friday.Absolutely no organisation whatsoever.Nearly 5 hrs to tipNo waiting room or at least wasn’t pointed in the direction of one.Just stood in a huddle with their own drivers in the yard.Once on a bay ,just stood inside the building watching them.Even their own drivers didn’t have a good word to say for the place.Only bit of praise I could give is that the toilets were clean
If I never go there again, it will be too soon.
Another place I hate going to is Iceland/Bookers Livingston.Security usually grumpy. At chill goods in,hand notes to an equally grumpy clerk. When finally on a bay, hand keys in then hang about in a corridor with 4 cast-off chairs for about 8-10 drivers.A drinks machine is available. If you need the toilet, can’t go to the one just up the stairs. You have a 5min walk to the main entrance to use the ones there.Apparently,no allowance is made if you have a medical condition which may cause you to need a toilet quickly
Got barred out of Iceland 2 months ago for complaining about that hallway and having to either stand or sit in one of those plastic school seats if available for 3-4-5 hours at a time.
Walked to the toilet you are referring to only to discover it now has a security door that only employees get a card for, so no bogs at all despite being in there for 5 hours or more on occasion.
Guy told me to get out of cab and I explained the above to him politely and found myself barred, although this has worked out great for me it just shows how they treat visitors to their site.
A bloody disgrace.
Bad:
Co-op (chill) Thurrock - waited a couple of hours to get on a bay {I can deal with that}, checked inside trailer when I pulled off bay to shut doors, nice new shiny load bar gone, piece of scrap metal tubing {about a foot too short to be of any use and no spring-internals} in its place!!!
I needed the bar for a collection on the way home but despite ‘looking & complaining’ for another 2 hours, I left empty handed. I did, however, have a signature for the ‘lost’ bar and they said they’d pay the bill . . . . . . whatever, by then it wasn’t my problem (too late for the collection so straight home).
Good:
Sainsbury’s at Hams Hall. In and out quite quickly - too quick to use the brew facilities they offered/mentioned.
Praise-
While I am at it I should mention Farmfoods ■■■■■■■■■■■ and C.J. Lang Dundee.
Not for their welcming smile or their military precision at unloading the pallets but for their canteen.
Farmfoods 50p for a bacon and tattie scone doubler and free tea.
Langs at Dundee have some great prices for dinner if I miss Farmfoods and also free tea.
Irrespective of my earlier comments about Morrisons, Jn 41, not only on this thread, but several others over the years, I recently had an Ambient load to that destination. Not knowing the ‘protocol’, I parked short of the ‘Gestapo Hut’ and introduced myself ‘on foot’.
‘Straight in’. Was the response, and reaching the delivery area, I was waved to where they wanted me to position the vehicle.
This was an ambient load in a Fridge trailer and, once we’d established that I’d have to ‘pump truck’ the pallets to the rear (which I already knew), and, that I’d never been to the Ambient side before, then the atmosphere almost became like a ‘Love in’. “There’s a drinks machine through there.” “The toilets are…” “If you want to use the canteen…”
I’m in a state of confusion. I’m looking around as to whether I’m in the right place. Have I entered a different dimension?
What brought me down to Earth was, load dropped, and checked. ALL of the office staff went off for their Break at the same time.
Didn’t bother me. I’m paid by the hour.
Krankee:
Morrisons, Jn 41,“If you want to use the canteen…”
I thought they’d stopped that some time ago?? Good stuff if the canteen is available again; I always had a hearty scoff in there - would’ve been a shame not to, the amount of time it took to get your paperwork back!!
worst
Asda washington grocerys, takes hours to do anything and no ones very helpful
best
Asda washington george clothing, i go here almost every day and its very good, an open counter, no glass screens and i,m on first name terms with most of the goods in staff, how can the same company have 2 sites less than a mile apart with 2 diferent attitudes to drivers?

My views on Iceland are on another thread, 9 hours at Swindon for 4 pallets is taking the urine, needless to say I to was banned after almost taking the out barrier to my next tip with me! Nettos still rate next to ■■■ as far as I am concerned, as does the Early Learning Centre also at Swindon, yet Woolworths I never had a problem with apart from the strange book-in times, and Honda @ Swindon were always ok to me, do as you would be done by was always my motto, treat me decent, like a human being and I’ll reciprocate likewise, though can be a problem with groupage trailers if other stuff is top of their stuff, but as I got on with the flt driver never a problem, except ‘don’t do it again’!
But one that does deserve my praise is Toys R Us @Coventry, early or late never seemed to bother em, never had any trouble there.
‘Crazytrucker’
Worst has to be McVities in Ashby
Apperently 28 of our drivers have been banned from there in the last 3 years (site rules taken from ■■■■ cencentration camp archives)
The site has a 10mph speed limit (as do all RDC’s) but the speed limit is monitored by security and they will and do give you a site infringement for going 11/12 mph, if you have been there you will know about the runway like 1/4 mile straight along the back of the building
Now the thing that ■■■■■■ most drivers off there apart from the unhelpful speed obsessed shunters is the fact that when you reverse your trailer onto a bay to be loaded you have to uncouple your unit !!! and then hand your keys in, so they have your trailer on a bay… the unit is uncoupled and parked miles away from your trailer…they have your keys…but your not allowed to sit in your cab ■■
Surely uncoupling a unit from a trailer is a bigger health and safety risk than just backing it onto a bay and handing your keys in.
Office staff are unhelpful, load times are 2 hours plus…but ■■■■ do they make some nice cakes…Jaffa cake anyone ?
Praise
Morrisons-Sittingborne, always been in and out, friendly staff
Sainsbury’s-Charlton, normally quick.
Sainsbury’s-London Colney, quick, although as a one off I waited an hour for paperwork recently only to find it was already done, bloke in the office was spotted by me nodding off at the computer at one point.
Shame
Tesco-Fenny Lock, every time I have been there it has been hours and hours. Once was not allowed in 1.5 hours early, when i got in i was told there was a 2 hour wait until i would be seen to!!! I was there about 4 hours all in all.
Iceland-Enfield, awful place with awful people and long tip times.
Argos-Basildon
Hit and Miss
Asda Dartford, sometimes quick, others slow, not much room when it’s busy, but round the other side of the building there is bags of room, and loading bays, yes, that modern marvel, loading bays!
Asda Didcot.
Sainsbury Waltham Abbey, normally slow with a curtain sider, however the other day was in and out as they put me on a bay.
Sainsbury-Hoddesdon.
However, nothing compares to the cattle market that is London Heathrow freight terminals, count yourself lucky if you are doing RDC’s. Spent 6 hours at Heathrow Thursday, to be told the pallets I wanted weren’t there! (had a similar thing the night before but slightly less at 3 hours) Went to second collection and waited 2 hours, had to pull out empty in the end as was running out of time! Staff told me if I waited another half hour they would see if there was a bay they could get me on, I said ‘see ya’!
i did Heathrow 2 Years.I got 40 kilo up and left then to do Store delivery.Too unhealthy the waiting next to a Food Van.
Shame= Sainsburys Stoke My licence has run out i have been hear that long
Praise - Tesco - Snodland. Very quick tip.
Shame - Tesco - Snodland. There security are ignorant ■■■■■■■■ One of our drivers was parked up on the road beside the recycling? (Never done it so dont know where the recycling is) but was advised it was safe to park there as they had done it many items before. Within the space of 4 hours, when the driver was driving, security man felt the need to batter the door and threaten our driver ith calling a wheel clamp company as he supposedly wasnt allowed to park there. Each time the driver told him call the police and they can deal with it, he never did… The 4th time the driver lost the head, put clothes on and got out with his winding handle, fat security guard run back to hit hut and never bothered him again…
So does anyone know if this bit where teh recycling is a private road or what?
Praise
Argos RDC Stafford - Very helpful at goods in and goods out. They loaded me in under an hour but the best bit is their canteen. It does a really good breakfast and if you cant be arsed to walk around to it a bus runs every 10 minutes

Loads of room to manoeuvre too

Duuno if its a private road or not mate but its off a main road…looks like a dead end when your driving down it… i drive nights and its always dead near the recyclying plant…lots of room for trucks to pass … like you said …security guard is a ■■■■■■
