Rdc booked times (tesco specifically)

I’ve got a trailer full to tip at tesco Doncaster booked at 9am tomorrow, I’ll be there tonight before midnight. Does anyone know if they’d accept it that early, or a tip of getting them to? Or if they even accept supplier deliveries overnight?

They take deliveries overnight but as yours is a 9am booking the answer they will give you is that it’s a different shift so they can’t take it …

Personally I’d still go to the gate and tell them you were told by higher powers that they’d take it

We had 2 trailers tipping in there yesterday booked for 14.00…this time of year you’ll be lucky to get tipped anywhere near your booking time but good luck. If you’re more than 30 mins after your booking time they’ll mark you down as late but they dont mind keeping you 3 hours after your booking time if you’re bang on time!!

I’ve had the 3hr delay when on time before. If I can get tipped tonight I’ll be able to get to next place to drop the trailer and have it reloaded and ready to go after a 9hr, then straight back to the yard, rather than having a 9hr, then tip for 2-3hrs then try to make it to be reloaded and back.

You’ll never know if you don’t try. But as it’s been said it’ll be tomorrows shift so it won’t even be on tonight’s sheets

I bet they won’t let you drop the trailer either and I’m guessing you’ll need secure parking you’ll struggle to find anywhere at that time of the night.

With our place Tesco policy is that they won’t even let you through the gate up until 30 mins before your booking time. I got into Hatfield an hour early the other week (I’d read the time wrong) went at 13.30 when it said 14.00 on my notes but it actually said 14.00/14.30.

They let me in but parked me up, wouldn’t let me on a bay. Someone at Lichfield once told me that their computer system won’t allow the stock to be booked in until 30 mins before time. Might be BS, but I know no better.

Tell them to park you on the bay, if you give VOSA a bell they will come out and draw a chalk outline to ensure Tesco won’t disturb you on your 9 off.
This was told to me by a very knowledgable driver at a RDC so it must be right.

No joy, said they’d call me if they can get me in early but otherwise come back at 6 for better chance when day shift start. Had to go round the corner and park across an old exit/entrance to Wincanton, inside the gates are stacks of old pallets so doubt I’ll get a knock on the cab. All the non double yellow line spaces are understandably taken this time of night. Just get to listen to the reversing horn of the container lifters in the rail yard til I can get in.

Is this a one off, or a regular occasion? If you dislike your job and company so much, why are you still there :open_mouth:

Actually, success! Thought I was as getting fobbed off with the “we’ll ring you” line, but just got let in, so now get to spend my break in lovely Grimsby Docks instead of Doncaster rail yard.

It’s not a one off, but not a regular thing. Normally if I’m as early as I was today I’ll find a nice quiet spot to park for awhile but my boss needs the backload at the yard to sort and get back out before the Xmas break. Never said I dislike my job and the company, in fact I quite enjoy working for them, im fairly independent, left to get on with my job, the only time I have contact with my transport manager is to get details of the start of a trip, or to have a gossip about random crap. I’m not one to stick somewhere if I don’t like the job to the extent it causes more issues than it solves.

Sounds like bs to me, if they need the stock they’ll take it!

I was in there on sunday and they had a notice taped to the counter asking drivers to come in early between 12am and 4am as this was there “quiet time” and you would most likley get tipped straight away no matter what you booking time was
my 26 pallets was tiped in 30mins :open_mouth:

I’ve got the Joys of Tosco, Teesport today at 14.00, gonna rock up around 13.30 with 64 pallets & I know it’s gonna be at least 5 hours [emoji99] & a night out, no point in rushing back [emoji6]

Tiz that time of year a lot of folks are more helpful as Santa’s watching. You always get the odd grumpy arse but showing willing and being nice work wonders.

I use the old VIP load trick which works sometimes.

Was once with a Load at Tesco Dundee. Gave him Paper. He says 07.00 Am
Give him Paper again with £20.- Note. 30 Min later i was empty.
You had to open both sites of Courtain. 2 Forky. Quick Lads overthere :grimacing:

Maybe I’ve just been lucky recently but the last four or five times I’ve been to a tesco I’ve been in and out in 30 mins to an hour anything from 4 pallets to 26, and I’m sure I overhead one of their staff talking about new turnaround targets.

They will, it’s a fair while since I’ve been in there but I was always asked if I was staying with tri or dropping it , instruction from my t. 0 was to drop it, shunter pulled it off , parked it up and later truck picked .
In there 4 in morning to drag a load out or I would of asked goods in if things had changed
