I’ve had some from “Lloyds bank” as well and I have forwarded the e-mails to the relevant banks - there is an e-mail address to do this on each of the banks’ website
I get dozens of these, you would wonder why people click on the details of a bank they do not even bank with
There is regularly a special offer from Lloyds TSB. If these Nigerian scammers knew anything about my banking history with the TSB, they would stop wasting their time sending me anything to do with a black horse
I have banked with only one company for the last 15 years, but I get endless “spam” e-mails from every major bank asking me to log in with my details due to some sort of security update. I pass them on to my mate in Nigeria - he’s got millions so it might help him out!
About a year ago my mother was looking for an item which I found on the net quite cheap. Although my father has tinterweb he won’t buy anything online, so my mother gave me her card details over the phone and I ordered the item for her.
A few weeks later they had an e-mail claiming to be from Visa saying that due to some unusual activity with their card they should log in with their details etc. They assumes that it was because of this purchase. Luckily they checked with me, and I pointed out that Visa did not have their e-mail address and they did not use any form of online banking so it could not be genuine.
Both my parents are ex-teachers but still nearly fell for it - easily done if you are not an internet “regular”.
i have to admit when i first got on the web a few years ago now i nearly fell for one from Barclay’s as the website was exactly the same as the normal one, but for some reason i had a look at the web address and it didn’t have
HTTPS
it just had
HTTP
and no padlock at the end of the address bar so i just quickly shut down and then went and changed all my passwords ( even though i didn’t fill any in, it was just to be on the safe side!)
i felt a right plum afterwards but it taught me a lesson!
