has anybody had any experience of rathbones at wakefield?
I personally have had no experience with Rathbones or with any of their drivers. However there hardly seems to be a week goes by without them recruiting in the local press.
A few years ago i did a few months on Rathbones running from Stockton bakery.
All trucks and trailers were contract hired and in good, legal condition.
Start times varied, normally either 4pm, 6pm, 8pm or 10pm. Easy work run to to a small distribution warehouse, rollof cages, and reload empties.
After a bad accident before my time (one of their trucks came off the A1 on the high bridge near Doncaster killing the driver) they have a strict policy of their drivers taking a nap if they feel tired.
For example I ws caught yawning at wakefield depot and was told to park up for an hour and sleep before travelling back to Teesside.
Unsure about the wages as I was employed by and agency, but their lads seemed happy enough.
One thing to note was emphasised to me quickest way to be booted off Rathbones is to “acquire” a loaf of bread. There is no such thing as a drivers perk…you must pay for anything that leaves the depot in your possession at the end of the shift

Rathbones also have a depot in Newport on the Wern ind est. They advertised in my local paper this week for drivers. Might give them a call myself. Can’t miss their trucks, DAF CF’s with Rathbones in great big letters on the trailers.

hi wayne, they run some decent tackle,430 horses seems a bit of an overkill for bread, makes a change
they run XF spacecabs too
good luck mate might see you there
As I said in my earlier post in my thread I don’t know anybody who works for Rathbones all I was pointing out is that they seem to be in the local press in the Barnsley area nearly every week.
