Does anybody in Somerset (Taunton Area) know exactly what agencies charge the customer for class 1 work days and nights and weekends.
Need to work something out.
Easiest way to find to get a rough figure is add on 23% onto the hourly pay rate and that’s the minimum without any of their costs. That 23% is for employer’s ni contribution and holiday pay. Then there’s the mystical figure to add to that and that is the agencies profit, this is the figure that is the hard one to find out. I do know that one national agency multiplies the hourly rate by upto point 45 as a start point for negotiations eg
£10 ph X.45 = £14.50ph charge rate.

I’ve always been told that they add on 25 - 33%. I saw an agency qoute last year (herts area)for 15 quid an hour mon - fri 6 till 6, not sure about other days/ times, but that particular agency were paying a tenner an hour.
I also remember when I started driving in the 90’s I saw an agency qoute for 7.50 an hour when they were paying a fiver, so the 25 - 33% thing could be about right.
Why not try blagging it and simply ring one or two of the agencies, pretending to be a haulier scratching around trying to cover a run for (say) Monday. If you’re convincing enough, they’ll give you a price…
Then repeat the exercise for a weekend and/or night shift as necessary
Thanks guys, I had to quote for a job and didnt want to overcharge nor undersell.
