The only job and very handy for warning uninvited guests to your truck it might be light but it’s effective

Doesn’t help that most of my ratchets have the longer strap, so are higher up the trailer and I’m only short (ish)
I’m 6 foot and these longer strap ratchets used to be a pain in the arse, if its the hook type you maybe able to hook the ratchet strap eye back onto the ratchet to shorten the strap.
Or try hooking the strap right on to the chassis body under the truck.
I used to have a favourite few ratchets that had nice short straps and hooks, also found quite a few on the side of the road to add to my collection.

I remember seeing ratchet sets a lot bigger than our normal ones,they also worked different than anything ide seen before.The sets were being used by company drivers at a chipboard factory in Germany[gutisloh]spelling I think.The strap was threaded as normal but you pulled down to tention them,a lot better to get more tention.They also had special extentions to get them really tight.Any other drivers seen any like these,i am by the way going back to the mid 90s.

Well, sounds like the Ergo from Spanset with ABS. They’re about £35 a ratchet though rather than £15 odd for a bog standard Yoke!
