Ken,it belonged to a bloke called Harry George (as the logo says) he lived at Harrowgate hill, north Darlington,i remember him working as a fitter at Tayforth Darlington where i worked as a driver in the erly 70s,i think he went under in the haulage job,he used to say it was a 6 wheeler and he dropped the extra axle into it him self,i don’t know what became of it after he had it.Vic.

I used to drive an 8 wheel TK in the 60s for K Watson Ltd of Houghton Conquest near Bedford. It had a Primrose second steer axle and trailing rear axle . With a 354 Perkins it was not really powerful enough but could carry 17 Tons at 24 Ton gross . It got through gearboxes engines and brakes at an alarming rate. It was 1965 reg BTM 676C and i took it to Herne Bay the day after my 21st birthday
Another of its many guises.

is j dews any relation to eric dews who ran stone out of sherburn quarry in the 80s
Yes Eric was one of the sons, his brother was Kai Dews, The are both [RIP], But Im sure Erics son is still in the haulage game ?. Regards Larry.
There were a few TK and KM 8x4’s here, some would have been re-powered with Detroits after the poor old 466 or 500 Bedford motors would have given up.
Here’s a good looking KM with a lazy rear axle.
This is a goodie,I count 124 wool bales,I reckon this old banga would have been very slow and be up about 36-38 ton. Looks like a tandem drive this time ,poor little Beddie.

Larry I think Eric’s son had and 8 wheeler and drag running out of Tarmac Topblock at Durham. Not sure if that is still the case.
