EastAnglianTrucker:
I’ve noticed recently there is an increasing number of complaints about “professional” driving standards.
In most of these threads either someone has been cut up, not let out, kept back, driven off the road, or otherwise offended. Of course, there is always a response and a discussion, long or otherwise.
But has anyone noticed most of these posts are by people with less than say, 100 posts. Often far less than that. And generally speaking, all the posters profiles list them as a “Driver”.
I don’t know who is or who isn’t a driver, and maybe they are all from concerned pros complaining about others, but somehow I doubt it.
It’s nothing personal, and maybe all of these posts are from genuinely concerned drivers, but call me a cynical, “old school”, time served, sceptic, but something doesn’t gel about the number of critical posts, or have we all simply started criticising every other driver on the road?
Maybe just maybe if these Stupid ■■■■■■■ idiotic drivers didnt act like ■■■■■ then nobody would post about there ■■■■■■■ bad driving then would they.
Why are you attacking me? All I asked was a reasonable question. I wan’t accusing anyone of being a troll, but you seem to have taken it personally. If the cap fits fella…
Surely the ‘point’,if there is one, that you were trying to make is,anyone with less than a certain number of posts on here is a timewaster, that word ‘troll’ what a load of rubbish, when perhaps its the people who post endlessly, but posts a load of inconsidered rubbish who are just as bad, besides if you aren’t interested in summit, dont reply/bother about it,complaining about it is just as bad as complaining about supposed inconsiderate driving?s

As the saying goes; “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone…” But I get the impression, reading through the few posts you’ve made, in the short time you’ve been registered here, you have the feeling you never do anything wrong dazamc1983! You certainly seem to enjoy casting judgement on others!
IMHO. People must feel the need to criticise some “Professional” drivers because they are obviously, and in many cases, genuinely concerned about the standard of today’s “Pro’ drivers”. No harm in that.
“Pro’ drivers” jump to their own defence because the minority of crap drivers amongst them get the majority a bad name and they too, obviously object to being tarred with the same brush. What has to be remembered and it is important, is that on this forum a lot of decent wagon drivers are complaining about their colleagues in the industry. No harm in that either. Problem is, what to do about it? Cheers.
Well I understand what you’re saying Solly, but how is complaining about it on an internet forum going to change anything? It seems to me that more than a few posts by people complaining, are deliberately intended to goad other forum visitors into reacting, with the intention of starting a slanging match - and in the case of at least two recent threads, has succeeded. Has it changed anything? No, not in the slightest! Although it is marginally entertaining for a very brief period.
Do you think there’s a pro driver on here that thinks he’s a bad driver? Or if he does think that, is willing to admit it here? I somehow doubt it.
I can only guess E.A.Trucker, but I suppose by posting on a forum like this it is aimed at the largest possible audience of “Like-Minded” people who have the same interests, in the hope that what they are complaining about strikes a chord with those who feel the same way and will recognise and relate to their gripe. Sadly nowt can prevent the slanging matches as it is inevitable some will think it is a dig at them personally.
Anyway. To answer your questions at the end of your post - IMHO - No to both.
I thnk the term professional is badly abused we are paid to do a job which can be a pastime like football. I am sick of so called experianced car drivers slagging off any LGV or PCV driver when they have never even been near anything larger than a van. The Car test and Motorbike test should include what its like to be in a large vehicle and see how we have to handle and to understand we are not hogging the road when taking tight turns and going into that gap will involve you being written off or killed plus when it says on a trailer (not all) if you cant see my mirrors I can’t see you I can not SIMPLES.
The way I see it, what you get on here is exactly the same as the moaning that’ll go on when a group of drivers get together at an RDC, Pub or other social place. “I saw this muppet today…” and so on, the difference is instead of saying it to 3 or 4 people, it’s being published on the internet for all and sundray to see.
As for the occupation being listed as “Driver”, didn’t we have to do that as a human varification when we signed up?
You should try the Frome/Warminster by passes early in the morning, the amount of near misses i see is amazing, they know there are no coppers around at that time, this bad driving is by lorries, flat out on the single track, amazing to keep on the road in one piece.!!
Armagedon:
Professional drivers my ■■■■,10 minute drive across my town today listening to Sally Traffic’s report,2 rollovers and someone had become detached from their trailer,Sally can report
anything up to a dozen rollovers each day, professional my ■■■■ seems most of you couldn’t even spell it.
Firstly we are not all European heroes who have travelled the land by millions off miles, we don’t all make the perfect decision 60 hours a week and most off us are just human not trucking super heroes like yourself.
Secondly this is a drivers forum to discuss his/hers day and ask for help or advice I for one haven’t posted thousands or even hundreds off times
So should I not have an opinion on something?
I have on a few occasions posted about the things others do that get on my ■■■■ but would have to be seriously ■■■■■■ off to start my own post
Over it and if I did make a big song and dance over something them I’m a hypocrit because I balls something or other up on a regular basis or do something then afterwards wish I’d done it different but this is fine by me as it gives me a chance to learn, so if I would have to kick off over something
Pretty serious to start my own post because all the things drivers do to winde me up I’ve down myself over the years hence why I don’t feel the need to post 20 times a day about everything and nothing so does that make me a troll or un qualified to have an opinion when I choose I want to give one?
