RANT ......M74 closed for grass cutting

So, last night it was closed from J12 to J10 both ways just so they could cut the grass…
thats quite a few miles…
whats wrong with coning one lane off ■■?

That’d be like having sausage shaped sausages that taste like sausages and not cardboard.

Elf and safety so they shut the country down

Where you getting your info from? Isn’t that where the roadworks are jnt10? Never known any night closures due to grass cutting mainly because you can’t see the grass at night

Pretty sure it wasnt for grass cutting as when I rejoined last night there was guys walking up and down the tarmac inspecting it and measuring different sections.

Granted was a bit of a pain with the diversion, also over the last few weeks it has been down to one lane at that section for other work but would rather they done it at night than do it during day especially as the roadworks are still down at J14 southbound just now.

dear me !!!

my eyes told me cos they could see the men and machinery from the old A74.

and the roadworks you might be thinking aboot are further south between abington and the weightwatchers.

The M74 was definitely closed for grass cutting on the central reservation last night, when I came back up the road this morning the central reservation was all newly cut grass, happens a lot up here nowadays.

well kf me …closed for grass cutting!!! I am lost for words …as many older drivers will remember the guys in Dumfriesshire road depots in the late 70s cutting the old 74 2lane each way and no hardshoulder,I did 2or 3 summers doing grass cutting ,both sides ,centre res, with a ford 5000 with just a beacon on the roof and a drum o diesel and a hose in the bucket before I found my licence lol.
times change I know but in all honesty I cannot remember the need for a closure in them days.
many good memories jump starting motors in laybys for beer money, having a sleep at lunch behind the mower especialy up by coatsgate café( a big breakfast wi a afternoon siesta) good days.,having a snigger at the “married lunch time crew” up around auchen castle. jimmy

All due respects but in the 70’s you were real drivers!!

no cruise control or iPhone there to distract you, obviously workers are killed due to stupid drivers.
