!!!!Rant alert!!!!

So on my quest to get fit I’ve pulled/ripped a tendon in my foot and been given a note for light duties for 2 weeks, Great i thought i can still earn money and pay the rent and bills and buy food, so i rang work and told that what happened and that i’ve got this Dr’s note and i get told the TM will have to speak to HR as there isnt “light duties” so i said so i cant just do trunk runs for a 3 days till my next rest days but no…

After my xray to make sure its not cracked i rang back and get told i have to go on the sick till i can do the job I’m employed to do which is…a Driver i.e Trunk runs / Store delivery’s…

So now i’m going to lose money :{ I just wish i was one of those ppl that doesn’t care and just have a jolly for 1/2 weeks but i would like to work to earn money im always asking for a 2nd run doing the runs that aren’t covered and need to go out making 15 hour days, yes i know that its overtime for me but as well i do favors for them when i’m asked but its no good they don’t look after their drivers well that’s it basic hours for me from now on.

sorry for the rant just ■■■■■■ me off im jumping ship to the agy that way i can pick and choose my runs and sit a round all day with my finger up my arse… granted its not all of the agy driver but the select few know how to work it and get paid x hours for naff all…

I want to work but they wont let me.

No offence intended here Dan, so please don’t take this wrong, but as you obviously don’t need a plaster cast for this injury and you obviously feel capable of doing your normal job, I’ve got to ask why on Earth did you inform the office of this injury?

If you’d just turned up as normal and someone had noticed your limp you could just have told them you’d stubbed your toe or something. This problem would never have arisen then.

Happened to me last July. I was in a car accident and hurt my knee and back. Part of my job was going multi dropping two mornings a week in a 7.5 Tonner and the rest was Class 1 Trunking. I told them I couldn’t do the multi drop as it was all handball and was told the same as you.

I ended up having to leave as the sick money was just SSP and I could earn more on agency. My back and knee still aren’t right so I still wouldn’t be able to do the job now.

I was angry as I liked working there and thought they would’ve been lenient with me as I was good at my job but they were just like the rest.

No i dont need a cast for it but i cant hardly walk let along put pressure on it by putting my weight on it by pushing full cages full of cases of beer and such, so yes i can do my normal job well the driving part but just not the pushing of cages
