Well apparently Im a stuck up bus driver…
Anyway, this “stuck up bus driver” will continue to move over for trucks on sliproads and flash them out when you want to overtake…
when I rarely use services, coaches park anywhere they can unless they have punters, then I usually see them drop them off at door and park up where they can, fridges generally park away from other motors (even Stobarts which I know might shock you) and a lot of the time you get a good blether.

Not quite as random as Toby at the weekend, but even so:
Why do a lot of drivers park in the coach bays overnight, even when the hgv bit has spaces? Is it just to save a walk to the facilities? Do the parking bods give a toss, or don’t they care as long as you’ve paid?
Its because when they arrived the HGV bays were full so they parked in the coach bays. It may come as a surprise to you but wagons are arriving and leaving all through the night and just because there are free bays when you arrive doesn’t mean there were any when they did.
No ■■■■ Sherlock? I wasn’t having a pop, as I said I was just curious. Wondered why, as I sat cooking my dinner, with about 30 spare HGV spaces, lorries still came in and parked in the coach bays. If the HGV spaces were full, or even further away from the facilities I could see why, I just couldn’t see why as there were spare HGV spaces, and to within about 8 feet or so, they were the same distance from the facilities.

Is it the further you get from London the happier people get?
Yes. Fresh air and not being overcrowded will do that for you.
Got to say, I loved my couple of days up there - clear roads, fantastic views, and great people. Hopefully be back there soon
I once stopped at the services on Jct 8 M11. It was empty with about 10 trucks parked up. I noticed this fuel tanker come in (Tesco) but didn’t see it park up. When i finished my 30 minute break i set off for the exit. As i was leaving that said Fuel tanker was parked up in the coach bays reading his newspapers. I did wonder why he did that when the HGV part was nearly empty

Good question, which, judging by a lot of threads on this forum, can be answered by saying that some wagon drivers consider other wagon drivers to be just as bad as Joe Public in every aspect of their driving habits. So unless they start treating each other with mutual respect and consideration, then the situation will remain as it is.HTH.
When driving a rigid and parking up for the night at some MSA’s I was often asked to park in the coach bays to leave more room for artics in the lorry park.
