Why are suzies called suzies? Anybody know?

Was the brand name of one of the original makers, kind of like Hoover in vacuum cleaners.

The word is actually an example of onomatopoeia sp? Meaning a word which sounds looks its meaning ie ssssss sound of air line, well that’s my understanding… Waits to be slated.

It’s just a short-hand of suspended airlines (susies).

There is a huge thread about Susie and whether she invented Polyamide coils at ICI, or as Franky Dobo said, they were called Susie cables after Suspended Insulated Electrical Cables. After all in the early 60’s the airlines were just simple black rubber hoses :stuck_out_tongue:
