Heard a “tail” today concerning a Ramage (North Tyneside) newbie who drove down a one way street the wrong way in London. Police called & apparently he was so overcome that they had to get someone else to reverse it back along said one way street!? Anyone heard anything / can coberate?
On the wages they pay I’d say that would be correct

If the lad was a newbie i cant help but feel sorry, theres nowt worse than the sweaty palms, clenching sphincter and dry mouth in times of panic, its years since i was in the centre of london i wouldnt be very happy if our lot sent me we drop trls on the outskirts and certain fellas take them in all week
Ive done a few one way syreets the wrong way round the London area myself. Usually down to the street being obstructed by cars after delivering to a location the right way but not being able to get out the right way.
Best thing I have found is not to panic have a cup of tea, access the situation then back up with the hazards on, if a turning area presents itself great if not keep going in the hope no one gets killed.
If situation is dire the rozzers will assist, but expect a bollocking afterwards unless theres no other option.
The feeling of sheer relief once one is heading in the right direction afterwards makes it all worth it.
Ive also deliberately driven down a one way the wrong way at stupid oclock but best not mention that.
to be honest years ago I went for an ‘interview’ after being taken out unit only by a fitter and ‘passed after 2 roundabouts’.
was then given or tried to be given the keys to a new eurotech, needless to say back in the mid 90’s a hourly rate of £3.62 meant I said my goodbyes.
I’ll believe it, the smoke can be intimidating
for the uninitiated
I couldn’t drive when I first went
so was 2nd man ■■■■■■■ and navigating
(something I could do well)
I used to think that a qualification to
being a lorry driver was the ability to
read a map. It wasn’t
We used to do a lot of long stuff into the centre, only good thing was that at least i had the copper to blame if we went the wrong way
I don’t get this big fear of London. Its only a city, just bigger than others
I found the North inner city around Wood Green the worst with the narrows streets and turns that could just be made in an artic if you used every inch of road you had. And then they have those big bollards on the corners to stop you mounting the curb that would burst a tyre if you hit it. After that I found the city centre a piece of ■■■■

+1.
I find it quite entertaining watching people with very little idea of how to drive a motor vehicle.
Hi,
One Friday afternoon in the mid 80’s I took the wrong exit from Sloane Square and finished up going down the Kings Road. Looking for a way to get back to Sloane Square i saw a street called ■■? crescent.
Now a crescent usually has entrance and a seperate exit so I turned into this crescent and started going through the cars parked either side of the road. Got so far down the crescent and came up to a RangeRover parked in the middle of the road, no-one inside it so sat for a minute or two to see if anyone was coming.
At this point a street sweeper came to me and told me to sound my hooter, someone will come he said. Then he said when you get past this point stop and watch what happens .
So a blast on the horn and out of this house comes a woman who gives a wave gets in the RangeRover and drives off I pulled forward 50 yards and stopped, two minutes later the RangeRover comes up behind me ,out she gets, locks up and goes back in the house, leaving the RangeRover where it had been before—in the middle of the road!!
The street sweeper came to me again and with a laugh he said thats what she does all day
I was tempted to go round again for a repeat performance but I’d lost enough time.
Cheers Bassman

The ones that cry the most have never even been there.
To be fair some of the streets were only made for horse and cart so it can get a little tight when going round the back of buildings in the Bank district.
