Raised Speed Limits Confirmed

Phantom Mark:
This is Lincolnshire, what do you think the chances are ■■

True, not that will bother anyone on that road, all they do is slow for the camera then its flat to the mat again.

Phantom Mark:

Certainly get less HGV speeding fines though.

This is all that matters, being a night driver the 40mph limit is even more of an annoyance when it suits me to get my toe down…the by product is less dive bombing as well, win win.

Nobody is forcing drivers to do the 50mph limit…it is a “limit” not a target as the old instructor saying goes iirc ■■ those who don’t wanna do 50 and slack around doing 40 rock on, still your choice.

The swathes of other truck drivers half-cabbing at one’s back door will be the ones trying in vain to force the more steady/mature/safe/chilled-out drivers to do 50mph. Now that the new limits are coming in, I fear that any HGV driver daring to do less than 50mph at all times will receive even more aggression and intimidation, and be deemed even more criminal than pedophiles - which is nearly the case now!

Hi All,

Just a wee point, if you are coming North of the border then watch out as these new speed limits are for England & wales ONLY, not Scotland   .

Remember its only on the single carrageway section of the A9 that has been incresed to 50mph (where signed)

Don’t let it get to you, I’ve had plenty blast past me when I’m doing the limit fingers up horns blasting and such. Doesn’t bother me a jot, I’m paid by the hour.

There’s a part of me that will always feel disappointment at the ugliness, aggression, and negativity aimed at one human being from another. Life’s way too short for all that crap. Irony duly noted here, by the way.

“What took you so long? You can go faster now the speed limits have increased driver. You have been trying to string the job out. We lost a load because of your unacceptable behaviour driver. So in accordance with your new contract of employment we shall be recovering out losses from your wages.”

Good point rickshaw, nothing like keeping things simple in the UK is there?

Unless I`m missing some thing, the email only refers to increasing speed limits on dual carriageways?
I know increasing the limit on single carriageways has been proposed / under consultation but not seen any thing confirmed.

Increased speed limit for HGVs on dual carriageways

Transport Minister Claire Perry has announced today that the government plans to raise the speed limit for lorries travelling on dual carriageways from 50 mph to 60 mph.

Today’s announcement will ensure that as of 6 April 2015, lorry drivers have speed limits that are better suited to a modern transport network.

The changes to speed limits will update previous regulations dating back to the 1980s.

The government also published today responses to a consultation on issuing on the spot fines for HGV drivers who take insufficient breaks from driving on longer journeys.

The dual carriageway limit changes happen on the 6th of April, it’s a bit vague when the single carriageway change happens ( although one gov press release says they both happen at he same time )
