RAF Reserves

RAF advertising for reserves to be trained Logistics Drivers help to keep RAF personnel and equipment moving, ensuring that they are available in the right place at the right time. You could operate a range of vehicles, from light motor vehicles, minibuses and large goods vehicles to specialist airfield equipment such as aircraft refuellers, mobile cranes and ice clearance equipment. Your work might include delivering passengers to an airport or delivering operational supplies to a forward operating base in the desert. You will also carry out minor maintenance tasks such as fault finding, wheel changing and vehicle lubrication. Drivers normally operate on their own, often away from a unit, so are expected to show initiative in completing their tasks. great oportunity for a youngster wanting a leg up into gaining there LGV licence

They make it sound a lot better than what it will be, more like get your PSV and drive drunken officers home from a mess do at daft o clock in the morning and some of the tight ■■■■■ won’t tip you

I was in the Movements Squadron at Brize.Loading planes/passengers for the Army/Navy.
Raf Benson is a helicopter base.
Raf Northolt is quiet. Not that active.Private jet base for the rich and famius that use it for London.
The Reserves is a good number, by law your employer is obliged to keep your job when they send you to Iraq/Afghanistan.That is the dessert bit.
Training weekends are hard and tiring. On mine a helicopter flew us to a remote area and stay in old sheds for skills training and mick bsttles and cimbat.
The people you meet are amazing and a great social lufe with free trips abroad classed as training but is hiking in California to river refting in the Ardeche area in Southern France.
Or skiing trips any place.
Food at bases is top notch and some have discos and nightclubs.
Heavy drinking is encouraged from high ranking officers to new recruits. You may meet a partner and get married as most do.
