Radio Two Friday 27/11/15 phone in Bint

Did anyone hear the topic yesterday about the Prime Minister turning up at places to visit schools or businesses, this lady rang in to say a MP came to see her group and she said about the problem of lorries rattling through her village or town.
Rattling through, great choice of anti lorry Nimby brigade , for a fact the lorry has paid road refund licence to use the road, the lorry was needed to deliver or reload goods in the area.
But the lorry is ok if she wanted a few tons of compost/peat/bricks/fencing material/wood/turf/paving slabs or horse food pallet trucked up her shingle drive, and tells the driver that the regular driver drags ton pallets on a shingle stoned driveway.
It is a kerb side drop the driver will say as she rings the depot in a panic as he drives away dumping her stuff on the road.

Good comment. But in the eyes of the general public truck drivers are perceived as Usebies. Zd convenient when needed and a pain. In ones aaaa,se at any other time. :unamused: .
,

without knowing where the village or town is, it’s impossible to say if she had a valid point or not. It could easily be the case that some trucks are using the area as a rat run in order to save a couple of miles or minutes even though there is a perfectly good alternative.
But don’t let the lack of facts stop you jumping to conclusions, it’s all good excercise.
