Now that dear old Radio Caroline is back on the AM (648 medium wave) in East Anglia, what the hell is wrong with my AM band in my R450 ■■ nothing but a buzzing interference and I cant find the source, its there even when engine off and key at first position!
Pick it up great in the car, My mates Scania radio picked it up near Brussels the other day with no problem.
I Thought it was the Roadhawk dashcam , but its not. not the fridge either but something puts a carrier wave right over all frequencies
It will never be the same as it was from either the ross revenge or mi-amigo.

The Ross Revenge was at Tilbury dock a few years ago, think it was being restored by some Radio Caroline enthusiasts, was down at Tilbury a month or so ago and it’s gone
Whatever the reason, MW and indeed LW reception seems to be pants in anything that’s moving these days;I find this with Test Match Special on R4LW. Or is it just the fact that we’ve been so spoilt by FM and now DAB that we just think it’s pants?

Now at a permanent anchorage in the river Blackwater above Bradwell, after the Marine Offencess Bill came into play and they could no longer get their supplies from Harwich we often used to nip alongside when anchored outside the Gunfleet sands and drop off a few fresh veggies, bread and meat when passing by if the weather was good (l!!) (allegedly)
She has been in the Blackwater estuary for nearly two years now, and I have been a part of the restoration crew over the last four years, just peeves me that I cant hear sod all on my MW band due to the interference I mentioned!

Have you tried a portable am radio in the unit? Just a basic test, but cheap to do. If it works in the lorry then Gawd knows. Get googling. Do other Am stations work on the lorry radio?
No FD, not a thing, so it has to be something on the truck that causes it.
The led lights on our newer trailers plays hell with my LW reception.

LED lights on trailers have problems if the electronic signatures don’t correspond, sometimes causes the trailer market lights to flash, we had a similar problem with our 4 newest Volvos and trailers with LED lights, had to have software updates
The software on my DAF gearbox has problems with trailers: tractor solo it’s fine, but put a trailer on the back. …

An interesting observation you make two ninety 88.
I’ve been following the news of Radio Caroline retuning to AM (legally), for a while.
Of course, it is and indeed has been available on line for a long time.
Depending on ones age, Caroline had different phases and means different music tastes to different people. For me it was during its album format in the 1970’s, that I remember fondly.
Interestingly, when it’s transmissions were illegal from the Mi Amigo, it’s signal used to be half decent in the Manchester area after dark.
It’s current test transmissions on 648 k/Hz are not as good after dark as when it was a pirate.
My M.A.N. 66 plate has poor reception right across the am/mw band.
I’m assuming this is down to the sheer amount of modern electronics fitted to trucks now, which lay havoc with AM.
I find talksport and five live sound very mushy on am unless I’m very near a transmitter.
