Radio 2. c Evans

Love a lorry week and Chris Evans is talking about lorries tomorrow, be interesting to hear what he and others say

I imagine it’ll sound like somebody who knows nothing about lorrys or the transport industry trying to fill a time slot in his radio program, and not doing it very well.

Or some driver ringing in, who comes across as a right loud mouthed ignorant ■■■■, and doing that very well :unamused: , that will make us cringe listening to him.

All, or at least for part of it he will be talking to truck racers Dave Jenkins and Mat Summerfield who helped Mike Newman set the blind truck land speed record today at Elvington airfield.

And how is this going to persuade Joe Pubic to love a lorry?? Interesting as it maybe it’s not anywhere near the subject of trucks on the road! RHA wants that side promoting but I guess that’s not interesting enough for Ginge ■■■■■

We will still be regarded as vermin.

Love a lorry. Hug a hoody. Sounds vaguely familiar.

Ken.

Is it not also because he’s passed / going for his PCV licence…■■?

I think the question isn’t what Chris Evans will make of Love a truck week, but what substance abuse led the RHA to think that a PR campaign called Love the Lorry, would help the image of the road haulage industry in the eyes of the general public. :open_mouth:

Oi, I’ve been rehearsing all day for that gig! I’m going to tell them they play too many songs by ■■■■■ and ■■■■ and ■■■■ munching lezzas, and ■■■■■■■■ bandits.

I’ll switch on and have a listen then

The whole campaign is a load of ■■■■■■■■.

You can have yard open days and people will come and enjoy looking at shiny big trucks, but when that same motor is holding them up on their commute whilst being driven by some unprofessional ■■■■ throwing the vehicles weight around - it’s a different ball game. You can go on all your like about how “everything we consume is moved by a lorry”, nobody cares.

As for the recruitment drive, I wonder how many firms are going to be totally upfront and honest about the wages, hours & shifts involved? Not many I suspect, it’ll be the same old quoting of a perspective ‘up to’ salary based on 70 hours & allowances alongside the usual stuff about what a great lifestyle it is. Result being people train up, start doing the job then jack it after a few years when the penny drops they were sold down the river.

“did this inspire you to become an HGV hero?” who think up this crap

still think fukatruk sounds more apt

Someone please tie up and gag dozy :grimacing:

Ginge ■■■■■, Not heard that one yet but did make me laugh

We all know it’s bullcrap …fair enough.
However when you look at how we are perceived by everybody, (unfortunately sometimes justified due to the bell ends among us) I reckon any charm offensive (grudgingly even Stobby’s trucks and trailers) or damage limitation, resulting in public support and empathy is ok by me. (But then the bell ends will just ■■■■ it up again)

+1

Listening to it now and so far the drivers are sounding normal!

I enjoy the Chris Evans show for its accidental moments of non political correctness, good bunch of drivers this morning especially the lady who coined the phrase ‘Id rather be homeless than chromeless’ (now changed to go chrome or go home for bbc dumbing down purposes) and the chap whos hauling 2 live sharks later.

Anything that helps with the lorry driver image cant be bad.

I agree though if dozy and carryfast could not call in that would be much appreciated.
Now wheres that classic tune convoy… oh here its is

Rather be homeless than cromeless nice toaster to keep the toys warm in winter…(roaster) :unamused: oh & sharks as well :imp: ffs.

Oh god no. He’s bad enough at driving people up the wall.

Was pleasantly surprised by the ones who were on air, was expecting the worst!
