Racing Waste Wagons

Ha ha ha !
That was funny !

Driving along the Stoke Hammond bypass (MK-L/Buzzard) & a couple of BMI (baby) Push outs/walking floors were ‘Racing’ out of the Tip (as usual) I got the nod from an approaching driver that Billy Bongo was lurking in the next lay’by playing with his Bongo Drum Speed ‘Scamera’.

I managed to warn the first ‘Racing Lorry’ but the second was so determined to win that he just ploughed on at 56ish. Lol.

He had a Determined look on his face & was still trying to overtake another Artic 100 yards from the roundabout, cutting across it at about 30 mph.

Ahh Well ! He might be working for nothing today & with any luck he will receive his points in the post shortly. LOL.

OK.

Won’t get points for doing 56mph … unless it’ was a stretch of single carriage way, then he deserves more than points and a fine :open_mouth:

Why not, is it motorway there?

Shame ! It was duel carriageway.
But the overtaking just before the roundabout was a bit Formula 1 & he gave us all a Great Heads Up in the General Publics Eyes, the way he took the roundabout at 08.00 in the morning with all the Sprog Fetchers about.

The Police wont/cant do you for doing 56mph on a dual carriage way because of tolerances. You get 10% margin of error plus a few miles an hour which comes to more than 56mph. Yes it’s mildly illegal, but I think the rozzers are more interested in catching motorbikes pulling wheelies at 140mph or boy racers doing 110mph in modded fiestas than trucks doing 6mph over the limit. The worst they could do would be slap you on the wrist if they were really bored. The limiter on my truck is set to 59 mph and I’ve never been had in a speed trap on a dual carriage way or stopped by police cars cruising past. Like I say, they are more interested in serious offences.

True, if you were involved in an accident that wasn’t your fault doing 5 or 6 mph over the limit then it would count against you, but only slightly … you might be found to be 10% culpable instead of 0% culpable if you were doing 50mph

The daft thing is you can do 60mph on a motorway, but your limited to 56ish, but should only do 50 on a dual carriage way (I accept d/c has no hard shoulder and may have traffic lights and roundabouts). Either raise the speed limiter to 60mph on trucks so they can go faster on motorways or set the dual carriage way speed limit to 55mph and be done with it.

hhmmm-the flat out run from the tip at newton longville back to hemel hempstead-i know this stretch of boring road very well lol

Useful little road that one, for when the M1 is funked.

I have a break down Amazon Fford before going in sometimes and there’s a waste depot just past Amazon and the rate their wagons come past is ridiculous. Most are clearly sitting on the limiter.
