Why o Why do hauliers compete ??

Unless you have a niche market not much competition. They will compete each other hoping get more work balance the books .or there loosing work n need more.
And the days of customers wanting stuff moved professionally proper service etc have long gone.
The customer just wants who ever can do jobs the cheapest.
So. Goes to tender and I’d say most choose who ever can offer cheapest terms

Apologies for waffling on, but this old wives tale and diesel fumed yarn, was going around the pit stops of Europe, for a few years, whether it’s a true story or not is a different matter.

So the multi billionaire ,Norbert Denstressangle , who had a fleet of thousands of lorries and his own helicopter, once rung up Eddie Stobart to say he could under cut Stobart to get his contracts, and charge the customers £5 per load and still make money, to the point of flying over and landing the chopper at Stobart HQ to seal the deal.

Well I guess it never happened, or did he change his company name to Culina?

How many drivers missed the Herald of Free Enterprise by two minutes?

Did he also fly over the tipper driver taking a sh in the back of his trailer?

(After the nuns/schoolkids/OAPs all passed by in their respective buses of course)

‘‘Drivercrap’’ is a fascinating subject…..,.spoken more fluently by some than others.

Why do you ask?

It’s all about volume, that’s what drives the share price up. Good for the speculative share buyers and sellers, not so much for the genuine investors.

One of our majors cut the rate for a big supermarket chain, management were thrilled that the share price went up. They then found out that the contract also included the loss making petrol station arm.
