R T Keedwell expanding

MT Top 100 company RT Keedwell Group has bought RJ Jones Group in a deal that supports the firm’s existing customer base, while opening the door for new clients. The group signed the deal last week with the Holywell-based haulier, which also has sites in Cardiff, Desborough and Scarborough. Approximately 90 vehicles, 230-plus trailers and 120 staff have transferred to RT Keedwell.

Blimey, didn’t see that one coming. The big boys just keep getting bigger. Must say though, I’ve a soft spot for RTK.

They will be up there with Stobart and Turners before long.

Hmmm funny every company that grows that quickly tends to have a tumble sooner or later…

Fair play to them just shows what being an owner driver can achieve

RJJ had some bad debt a while a go & was in trouble for some time. Good that they have found a good home.

So that is what the Monday morning meeting is about is it? I was told that RJs would continue to be run as a separate entity, more like the Stobarts/Tesco Distribution arrangement than what that post appears to be saying.

I don’t suppose the OP’s source has any more on if my new truck is going to turn up or not do they?

Wonder if they will be expanding the hourly rate ?

What hourly rate, we are paid a day rate + nights out. Sometimes it works for us, like for me today when I did about 7 hours work and took £100 for the trouble, other days it hurts like a ■■■■■ cos you hit fifteen and are struggling to find a place to park.

It was in Motor Transport, if you look it up. Also mentioned your new motor.

yep cheap labour

keedwells have been expanding for years but they dnt make a big fuss about it old man keedwell rocks up in his camper truck n makes em an offer if your company moves in the same circles ie customers and contracts then you’d best get measured up for the uniform

Seen quite a few trucks this week on the A64/M62 and job adverts for Ferrybridge/York area too. Whats the pay scales then ?

dream on

Just noticed this thread. I drove for RTK out of York for a spell before moving back to Teesside, personally I thought they were a great company to work for. For me it was - keep your head down and they’ll give you some space when you need it. Ok the wages weren’t the best but they certainly aren’t the worst?! So good luck to them I say, I’d go back if the opportunity arose.

York depot always looked after me and my unit/s when I needed something and the staff were usually great to get on with.

On a similar note, I’ve noticed some of the new Merc’s recently that RTK are running - smart looking units I think. Drivability? Not had the opportunity to drive one…yet!
