Swains in Astley? Guy I know worked for them about 5ish years ago and he rates them, he’s recommended them to me twice, claims to have cleared 550+ every week and only left when they had twins and 3 nights out a week was becoming an issue, I’ll collar him and ask about the trucks this weekend.
i work there and have done since they took over the firm i was working before hand.if ur propered to do the hours u can earn a good wage.there is a lot of london work steel for new office buildings.rebar bathroom modules alsorts.be handy if u know how to chain and sheet to as there is some jobs where sheets are needed but not that often.26.20 for nights out.can park at all depots if u near or passing.we just got a load of new 19 plates cfs with frigdes but only 3 have come to manchester so far.im in a xf but no frigde but if u want o put microwave in and inverter the firm will have it installed for u at no cost by their electrican.uniform provided meidical payed for when needed cpc trianing to.
A guy I worked with at a down market frozen food retailer went there about five years ago, very happy with his work, good dough and benefits in other words it’s all good
Went there a while back on an agency job to their Manchester depot. 4am start, got given some keys and paperwork and a vague wave of the hand saying my trailer was out there in the yard somewhere. Unit was a daf 85 (not a cf) that was, well, pretty manky, or in other words standard agency fodder. Big thing though was the catwalk was used for storing assorted chains, straps and a couple of greasy, slick tarps. Had to stand on them to couple up, and slipped down the hole. Damned near broke my leg. As it was I was bleeding from both. When I went back to the office to complain I was told if I didnt like it then eff off, which was exactly what I did. Maybe I got the wrong guy at the wrong time, I dunno, but Im’ not and never will put up with treatment like that.
Perhaps theyve changed, but I do note their catwalks every time I pass one, and more often than not they are an accident waiting to happen.

That’s the bit I miss about general haulage, chains, stretchers and sheets, ropes in the cab and dunnage behind the landing legs, spare bulbs, lamp lenses, gloves and odd sized wellies

Thankyou all, got a place just down the road from them, couple of lads from bratts had already moved and told the manager when he asked them about me, 'yeah he’s still new and learning, but he knows it, he’ll look after your truck and work it, hire him now" [emoji3], so yeah, now not to let anyone down by ■■■■■■■ up!!.
Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciated

well done mate, just take it steady, get out and look if not sure when reversing and don’t worry what other drivers may think.
