Happy New Year Everyone,

I’m hoping to have a better year this year when we finally move to Crewe. But the only concern I’ve got at the moment is, what the work situation is going to be like. I’ve got a few companies in mind but I’ve noticed that R J Edwards are recruiting in Warrington, its a bit of a drive but its not a big problem.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about them, if they are any good they might be worh contacting before we move.

If anyone has suggestions for companies that are up to half an hours drive from Crewe would be very welcome.

companies in and around crewe off the top of my head are:

Brit European = Radway green 10mins from crewe
Chamberlin Tpt = Crewe
Prima Distribution = Radway Green 10mins
NYK Logistics= Crewe but you will have to probably go through agency.
Gist (B.O.C) = Crewe ditto above
Mornflake Oats = Crewe
A.N.C. = Parkhouse 20mins
Barry Procter Services = Talke 20mins
Bibby Distribution = Crewe
Lots of agencys in Crewe and Stoke(20mins away)

At the moment these are all the co’s that I can think of off the top of my head. If I can think of any more will let you know. If i can help you out anymore please let me know.

I’ll phone up those firms which use an agency and find out what their prefered agency is.

Give Bougheys at Wardle a try. They seemed fairly ok when I spoke to them. There’s also Newsomes or Chamberlins but I don’t remember their pay being anything to write home about. If you’ve any bulk tank experience you could try British Salt (Wincantons) or Arclid.

Tescos at Middlewich !! But also just down the same estate past Tescos is a Wincanton (drinks distribution) depot. Try in there.

Gist use an agency called Pertemps or something similar. They are frequently advertising in the Crewe Chronicle, although whether they’re taking on at the mo I have no idea. I believe it’s a easy number, as long as you don’t mind being told how to do everything.

ANC have their own agency now I think, and as far as I know that’s the only way of getting on there. Again, easy-peasy work. ANC Resource Soloutions is the one to look for if you fancy a go.

I don’t know too much about the others, except that Barry Proctor is well avoided, Boughey’s were taking on not long ago and British Salt at Middlewich is dead man’s shoes. Jack Richards (Middlewich) were also advertising a couple of months ago, for trampers at (a stated) £32,000+, although it certainly read that you’d be doing maximum hours every week.

Sainsbury’s/DHL at Stoke advertise often - apparently the money’s good, but they do get through drivers according to my mate who works there. Something about ‘banked hours’ or something. ASDA have a big place off the A34 near Newcastle-u-Lyme, but I know nothing about them.
