Think its worded badly we read it like that but assumed the two passengers were in the car
the truck driver died and ‘his’ 2 passengers were injured, thats what it says.
Car drivers fault…!
Don’t start with the blame game. Some poor sod never went home again! 
could it be a removal truck?? hence 3 persons in cab??
Sounds like its hitchhikers to me, all three occupants from different parts of the country
