Merc0477 what was the voicemail bit?
His agency left his partner a message on the answer phone telling her what happened
They left a message wanting “to know if they could be of any assistance after the tragic news about Richard”, not realising that she hadn’t been told. Not defending their stupidity (confirming with local plod that she’s been notified would be a good start) but his name was all over Face-Ache in no time, a lot of people knew before his Mrs.

I worked for howdens on agency didn’t sign any safe working practices, just slung the keys away you go type job. The loading left a hell of lot to be desired aswell!Really feel sorry for the family aswell so close to chrimbo, police really [zb] up by letting the news spread before the family was told. And the agency Christ almighty who even leaves a voicemail like that?? Beggers belief
I second that. Howdens are horrible to work for.
are they that bad?

are they that bad?
Its not “bad attitude” bad but more like chaotic bad. The guys in the office are running around like headless chickens accepting more orders than they can cater for. When I did work for them I had to wait every time I arrived to get a delivery out because it wasn’t ready. The warehouses are really too small for the stuff they have in there. The guys in the warehouses are run off their feet because of it. Plus you get tradesmen coming and going clogging up the loading bay area. The worst part was they had no clue about addresses. When I would ask where the next delivery was, all they did was point at the book and say “there”.
Maybe it was just this particular store. No experience with their trunking side.
is Howdens a dhl site?

which has a 1800kg lifting capacity, but I think something else must have gone wrong here.
There looks to be 24 (2 banks of 12) worktops in each pack, the FLT was lifting both packs.
This link shows the product details for a pretty standard, 3M worktop from Wickes and states 45KG so…
45kg X 24 = 1080kg X 2 packs = 2160kg
Lifting both of those packs puts the load overweight by 360kg.
Obviously weights may vary but even with slightly lighter worktops it’s pretty close to the max capacity.
Shoulda lifted them separate methinks…
