R A Bugler

DEANB:
Came across this old daf yesterday so grabbed some shots. Is it a 2800 ? Not sure when they started
making the 3300.

They always looked very smart and had a nice colour scheme and sign writing.

Used to see them pulling Sun Seeker boats out of Poole.

The 2800 was introduced for 1974 and the 3300 wasn’t untill 1982 and yes they did look great…The ‘S’ reg would suggest 1977/78 and so it should be a 2800…

Now that’s a beautifully ‘lined out’ DAF, Geoff! Robert

Great truck, I had a 2800 for a while and then a 3300. What a wonderful job, transporting those beautiful boats / yachts around to the sun spots of Europe.

I took these a couple of weeks ago at Immingham Truckstop, the curtains were closed so no info on the load.

Geoff, I often used to see Bugler’s motors when I was working out of Southampton a few years ago, always an interesting load to see on their trailers. Regards Kev.

I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but I’m sure an old friend of mine used to drive for this company, Ivor Wheeler from Calne.

Hi "bristolron"you are right Ivor the Driver did work for R.A.Bugler for a while when I was driving for Reg.The first time I met him was in Poole docks we were supposed to meet some chap from the Channel Islands in Cherbourg, who was going to come with us to deliver a boat to Antibes.Ivor said that he would go onboard Truckline and get us a cabin but unfortunately I could not get on the boat as it was full so Ivor sailed and I met him again when I arrived in Cherbourg next day. They were both waiting for me and off we went to Antibbes.the man bought a Cigarette boat down there and we brought it back up for him and he sailed it from a little port south of Cherbourg to Jersey. Thanks for reminding me of Ivor regards Geoff

This pic must have been taken in the summer as he usually wore flying boots.
