Got them on some half pipe tipper trailers ideal for sticky loads , depends what your carrying if you really need them ,obvious weight penalty,a lot easier to fit to a new body than 1 that’s had a bit of hammer…
Thx for your reply until recently I only carried sand and gravel, this week I have had the pleasure of several loads of muck and even worse top soil which grew really attached to my Ali body. The machine driver suggested rocking it backers and forerds but with about 10 tonnes up in the air i felt disaster looming. Another truck tipped along side with a liner and the result was quite remarkable clean as whistle. This truck belongs to a very large plant hire company who generally cart by the load and has a budget a little above mine. Any more info would be welcome.
I wouldn’t have thought you would have put a new motor on muck jobs duck.best way to ruin the body and wreck the rest of it.steel bodies are for muck ali ones for quarry work.dont ruin the new motor its sometimes best to do nothing than take on crap jobs.
Yeh you are right shirtbox I have operated a tipper for twenty years three of which with a steel body. Unfortunately my main customer who is generally very good to me asked me to do the work but i draw the line at anything over the top. I was hoping that the liner will also save my floor along with the benefits already mentioned.
Quiksilvers are pretty good Smiths Bletchington have them on their trailers and sole alloy bodied 8wheeler. My Dad could carry 30t before having one fitted, it dropped to about 29800 afterwards. Smiths tried to see if alloy with liner was better than lightweight steels (Charlton Superlite), payload was better but they stuck with the Superlites.
Clark Contracting do muckshifting with their alloy bodies, don’t know if they use Quiksilvers.
Glad this question has been asked I suggested these to a mate who runs topsoil(the pukka gear not the fines out of the Trommel ) and what we call Thanet sand around here a very fine powder like reject sand that sticks in the body like the proverbial you know what!
From the research I have done this does seem to be the answer to our problems unfortunately they are very expensive. I have had two quotes and the cheapest (that does’nt sound right) the least expensive fitted in one day at my place is £3100
