Quick Tacho Driver Hours Question

Hi,

Can anyone offer a quick piece of advice please?

My day is going to be split today into 4 driving parts. I am looking for advice on when best to take the minimum amount of break time in this work pattern:

Midday book on
Driving part 1 - Drive 2hrs 30mins
Driving part 2 - Drive 2hrs 30mins
Driving part 3 - Drive 2hrs 30mins
Driving part 4 - Drive 2hrs 30mins

I can take 15mins, 30mins or 45mins break in between any of the driving parts above IE between parts 1 and 2, 2 and 3 or 3 and 4.
The entire working day will be 12hrs in length.

Nice edit, but it still won’t :wink:

Because you can’t stop during any of those 2.5hr drives, you’ll have to have a 45 min break in between each, otherwise you’ll exceed 4.5hrs without a 45 min break.
3 x 45 mins = 2hrs 15 mins + 10hrs driving = 12hrs 15 mins, + any other work - yeah, I know, it’ll be on break during other work :grimacing:

I’ve actually put 3x 45, because he says he can only have his breaks in between any of the driving parts - not during.

That’s much appreciated - Of course I shan’t be working during any of those breaks(!) :open_mouth:

If not taking any breaks in any of those 2.5 hours of driving then 3 x 45 will be needed

That’s 10 hours driving + 2 hours 15 mins breaks + other work so the total shift is going to be nearer to 13+ hours me thinks

I’m also assuming your drives are not actually 2.5 hours each? If they are then a bit of a hold up and your on a night out. If they are not, and their is a chance any two drives may be under 4.5 hours combined then of course you could remove one of the 3 breaks mentioned above.

That’s ok fella but if your driving you really should know the SIMPLE BASICS max 4.5 hrs drive in one hit or accumulated triggers a break of 45min. so in your example of 2.5 then 2.5 your already over by 30 mins it really is simple to under stand basic hours its when you gotta start mixing driving hours and wtd and reduced breaks that form part of REST I would expect to see questions on hours …
