There’s a lad on one of the other sites who does that and he does so…
Over 3 metres wide needs needs marker boards and at night need light on each corner, also a movement order
side markers are a bit vague in the regs but rule of thumb is one marker for every 10 foot( 3 metres) and you wont go wrong
and the poster above is right its under C&U regs and if in daylight no lights need- not even hero lights its not even wider than the wing mirrors

To be fair, we’ve all been there in some way shape or form throughout our careers. Without the good old internet to seek fast answers it was a case of faith in the gaffer…who promptly denied it all when you got your collar felt

I knew there were differences but we’re c&u so am naive to your stgo rules.
Besides I’m to lazy to check that many tyres or walk that far for a daily check
We had to go through this last week as 3 of us moved a wooden house thing, and each piece was 2.99 mtrs wide.
My gaffer also told me that was well as the movement order we could only travel between 10am-4 pm, Not sure how true that is.
Also if your heading over the dartford river crossing its £42 for an ■■■■■■, even though we were less than 3mtrs and then you have to pay the toll as well

probably true and be a restiction on the movement order by one of the police forces trust me when one will only allow you to move by day and the next force only by night it can lead to some very short working days- wheres the pub

STGO is one thing- throw out most C&U regs- when you get to special order( the type the minister of transport has to personally sign) type loads the regs do not exist at all ) and there is provision in law for more than that - you could move a 5 metre wide load ( go wider if you wish) 300 tonne (Go heavier if you wish) 20 foot high ( go higher, oh you get the point) with no notification at all , all it takes is some one in authority (Police, army, NHS power grid,and a few more) to declare it as a national emergency. once you get to the top end of heavy haulage you would be surprised what goes on and actually how little legislation actually affects you- BTW once your out of C&U regs- you know them EEC hours laws- forget them - of course domestic hours laws might apply-m but they forgot to include Special order work in domestic hour legislation- Oops

Have to say I thought you needed wide load marker triangles but no MO.
I also thought it varied between police areas as whether or not you need a MO. Sounds like there’s quite a few full time jobs rubber stamping in the police generated.
