Quick question

Does a C+E entitlement automatically give you C1+E?

Yes, as it (C1E) is a sub-category.

Thanks, just asked because there are places offering the separate courses.

I do not see that many C1+E set ups on the road so I bet those courses are not that popular

Bit of extra licence trivia …
Pre 1997 licence holders who also have C+E will effectively have TWO C1+Es on their licences
The one gained free before 1997 has the same expiry date as the car and is limited to a max 8.25 tonnes
The one gained by passing C+E will be hidden, has a max of 12 tonnes and is subject to the medical expiry date

When I passed my car test, I couldn’t drive a 7.5t or tow a trailer over 750kg (although I now believe I was ok upto a certain combined weight?)

I then passed my PSV in a crash box Leyland Leopard that was left over from WWII or something, STILL couldn’t drive a 7.5t or tow a trailer, BUT was ok with a bendy bus and a manual double deck 6 wheel’d coach with 100+ passengers on :unamused:

When I passed my C, I could finally drive a 7.5t like my mum who passed her test about 20 mins before I did - except I could actually drive it whereas my mum struggled with her Fiesta.

When I got my CE, I got my DE too + the ability to actually tow more than a suit case on the arse of my car.

Also, when I did my dCPC for my HGV back in 2011, it came back as BOTH PSV and HGV expiring in Sep 2019 - even though the PSV one was 2013, but HGV was 2014, it’s brought them into line with each other.

Some useless info there, but shows how ■■■■■■ up this country is
