Quick Question on hours

How many driving periods are you allowed a week?
For example :
Mon 0530-1900
Tues 0400-0800
Tues 2030-0415
Wed 1315-0215
Thurs 1100-2100
Fri 1200-0100

If I ran out of time can I still run in on the Saturday?
I’ll be under my 90 hours for the fortnight.
Hope those hours make sense.

As many periods as you like - you could have 8 shifts with 7 hours driving in each shift between sunday midnight and sunday midnight as that makes the max 56 for a week - the weeks each side could only have 34 max because of the max 90 in any two weeks rule

My understanding is that you can work 144 hours from the end of your weekly rest to the start of the next one.
Subject of course to your 90 fortnightly hours.

If you started work at 05:30 Monday after a weekly rest period you must start a new weekly rest period no later than 05:30 Sunday (six periods of 24 hours), you can do as many shifts as you like in that time as long as you comply with all the other regulations.

Cheers mate
I always thought you could only do 6 driving periods in a week. I was going to use that so I don’t get stitched up by the mug in our office. Maybe if i was one of the smelly polish ■■■■■ my boss employs I wouldn’t be having this issue

Correct

You have mentioned two rules
The first refers to the maximum allowed time between weekly rests
The second refers to the driving time rules which go by the fixed week known as ‘week’ in the regs
Each of those rules are separate but work alongside each other

Would it be easier if the fixed week driving rules were scrapped? = YUP and it would work well because the shift driving limits would suffice

That is often thought so by many because of the way in which the rules are written where it says a driver can have a max of 6 x 24 hour periods between weekly rests and drivers often use that to mean max 6 shifts whereas that refers to the 144 hours between weekly rests and has nothing to do with driving rules

I wish they had written max 144 hours between weekly rests instead of 6 x 24 (= 144)

Yes! everyone’s correct. :sunglasses: even run in on the SEVENTH DAY, with six nights out  as long as you’re REDUCED 24 hour rest period is completed after your 144 hours :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: as there’s 168 hours in the week! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: well done class, we’re learning! Have we done DCPC modules? :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: carryon
