Quick question about ciggy adapters

hello all, just wondering if you can plug a ciggy lighter adapter into a 24volt lighter socket if the adapter says for example

input: DC 12v/24v
output : 5 v

i know you can for the DHG but my satnav and mobile phone adapters also say this on the charger.
