and have a man with a red flag with you at all times.

Not such a silly idea, Can you not attach a flag or something to mark the rear of the forklift so when you look in your mirror, you can see it, then after a short while you will get used to it and you can take it off,

Sort of like stabilisers on your bike

SHAUN ,speak to your saftey officer if you have one or the boss and ask him if he would be intrested in getting a discount off his vehicle insureance, whenthe answer returned is yes, then tell him about fitting
a REVERSEING–CAMERA WITH MONITOR as with this fitted extra you will be more safe when working with his equipment and this in turn will help
prevent his insureance costing more because you will be working much
more safely and so cutting his overall costs, due to less down time
due to have the means to curb those accidents that happen because of the MOFFAT on the end of the lorry,

seems a bloomin large invisible overhang

If its invisible, how do you know its large

Thats a good idea, on my test I had a clothes peg on the mudflap for guidance on the reversing so a little flag wont look odd and if it meens the difference between hitting a car and missing it who cares?

Don’t forget that the accuracy of it is affected by the loading, gradient of the road, camber, smoothness, etc.

If you choose this, I suggest erring towards caution when you decide where to place it.

right guys i passed my moffet (lorry mounted forklift) today and a nice bit of kit it is.
my question is whats the best way of accounting for the extra length as you can not see it in your mirrors  and at the moment it seems a bloomin large invisible overhang
